RF recline level

I want to start by saying I LOVE this board, you guys are always so helpful and I love to read what other parents are asking! But I feel like the more I learn the less I know! LOL! I have a 19 month old, 22 pounds, 31" tall, in a Graco Comfortsport RF. I was reading on another post about adjusting the recline so it didn't interfere with the driver seat. We chose to put our's behind the front passenger so the driver's seat could be moved as needed. It is snug into the back of the front passenger seat and I would prefer the front seat be able to move maybe a little. Since I am not dealing with a newborn, does the level indicator even matter anymore? I have been using a rolled up towel and always making sure when I install it that it is correctly level, but do I need to bother with this? Or is being it being snug against the front seat a good thing, would it help in a crash? J/W - TIA

Not a tech, just a mom who's trying to learn all I can too! Once a child is the age of yours the angle does not need to be 45 degrees anymore and I believe someone has said it is even safer if they are more upright.
Having the carseat touch the seat of the car is not bad, it's called bracing and yes, can be beneficial. Not sure about 'snug', but I'm sure someone else will be!
