Vantage Point High Back Booster Seat by Safety 1st

I have a question about this carseat. I have found it on Babycenter.com for a reasonable price of $89.95. From the other parents reviews it seems to be a pretty good carseat but I don't see it recommended on any other sites. Most car seats have a max of 80 lbs and it goes up to 100. It has the 5 point harness which is a plus and it has room on the sides for my childs head. I would really appreciate some input before I purchase this. I am looking for a combination carseat for my 14 month old who is currently 22 lbs. We are currently using the Safe Embrace and I love it. The straps never twist and their is plenty of side room for his head when he falls asleep. We need another seat for my husbands car and I'd rather go ahead and buy one that will convert to the booster seat.

Thanks,
Alyson

I don't have much experience with this model-

I can relate what other parents have found on many Cosco high back booster models- twisty straps, and top harness slots that often arent high enough to accomodate tall children to 40 pounds. I would suggest you check the Vantage in person, or make sure you have a good return policy in case you don't like it. In regard to safety, it should be very good. Plus, it has the nice "open" adjustable shoulder belt guides which are not found on many other current combination seats.

My recommendation would be to keep your child in a rear-facing convertible carseat as long as possible, and then use it front-facing to 40 pounds. Rear-facing has tremendous safety advantages, even for children above the minimum of 1 year and 20 pounds. Also see:

Also, you might like to vist our Basics guide for more ideas and links to other sites with recommendations:

Good luck!
