s/o bmw center latch installation

so I emailed bmw last night to get an official response about the center latch install since the manual just ignores the topic. no email today so I called. I was told over the phone that bmw recommends NOT installing in the center at all, even with the seatbelt. I was referred to the NHTSA website & told that they (bmw) couldn't really make recommedations but that they don't recommend center install under any cirmcumstances. then the associate I was speaking with kind of went off the record & said she'd put it in the middle with the belt.

then about an our later I get an email that says it's fine to install in the center & use one latch anchor from either side
not very encouraging huh?
we're using the belt in the center but I wanted to share the official discrepancies I've experienced.

I agree with not using LATCH in the middle, but not using a seatbelt install?! What is there reasoning for that?! I have a BMW and while I don't have any kids, I've experimented with installs...including a seatbelt, middle install..and have had no issues. ??

From some of the things I've read, some vehicle manufacturers are under the false impression that seat belt installations are being "phased out," that LATCH is safer than seat belt installations, or that carseats that come LATCH equipped can't be installed with the seat belt.

Yet another case where lack of communication between vehicle manufacturers and carseat manufacturers leads to mass confusion and safety issues.
