Retrofitting 1999 Dodge Caravan w/ Tether Anchor

Hello -
We just got a 1999 Dodge Caravan, and it does not come with the LATCH system. I've heard that Chrysler/Dodge will provide and install the anchor for free, but when I contacted the dealer, they seemed to know nothing about it. Can anyone tell me how and where I can get a tether installed? Thanks!

You can't get the LATCH anchors (the ones that are found in the seat crack) added to this van, only the top tethers. The dealer may have been confused if you were referring to them as LATCH anchors. Dodge/Chrysler's policy is to install up to 3 top tether anchors for free (although we had to call around to find a dealer that would do three - most wanted only to do one.) There is a program number and part number that is listed in the LATCH manual. I don't have one, so hopefully someone else will pop in on this thread and post that information for you. :thumbsup:

You can have tether anchors retrofitted for each second row and third row seating position in the '99 Caravan, but not lower LATCH anchors. Dealerships unfortunately seem to be frequently confused on the concept of the free tether anchor retrofit program, and the auto industry's financial struggles of late seem to have increased the frequency. :o Per the LATCH manual, you'll need to refer the dealership service staff to Chrysler/Dodge's tether anchor retrofit service bulletin number 23-029-08, and the dealership can find additional information in the Warranty Service Center (WIC) article #1339. The program covers the tether anchor parts and installation labor in retrofittable models. The tether anchor retrofit part number for the '99 Caravan is 04864118AB for each second row seating position, and part number 05018506AA for each third row seating position.
