Just got the Radian XT for my 2 1/2 year old. Will be installing it RF position.
Does anyone have any tips for installing? I have never installed a Radian before and from reading other threads I hear it can be a pain to install.
Is it better to install with latch or with seatbelt?
It will be installed in a 2009 Scion xD, until we get the 2010 Toyota Corolla S.
Any tips would be great!
Also, I don't know where to find a tech in my area... from searching the closest one I found was 45 to an hour away. I live on the Gulf Coast, MS THANKS!

Rear facing usually isn't too horrible ... it's the forward facing seatbelt install that's a real bear. Rear facing the two biggest problems are usually recline angle (you can't do much about it) and the low belt path. If you can put it in a dedicated LATCH position, LATCH is usually easier. With a seatbelt it often requires twisting down the female buckle stalk. You can twist it up to three full twists.

THe first time I got it in, I had a pretty hard time with it. Try it when it is not too hot out and you have time to be patient with it. :)
IF it is too reclined, Try pulling the bottom away from the seat a bit, and then pushing on the area where the kids feet will be, while tightening either the seatbelt or latch. (I have only used latch)
I can install the seat well on my Expedition on my own, (because I can stand behind it and push down at that angle where the feet would go) but when I install in a small sedan, it has been very helpful to have an extra pair of hands in order to get the seat tight enough.
Good luck!

I've found it is easiest to install a RF Radian by standing behind the seat, leaning over with all my weight and pushing on the foot area while tightening.
Other than that, just try all the tricks mentioned in the thread. If you use the seatbelt and it gets near the belt path, twist the buckle (up to three full twists are allowed). A locking clip usually is not needed since the seat is very hheavy and doesn't tend to tip like other RF seats with a locked shoulder belt. LATCH installs are very easy, IMO.
