Ottawa-Having a hard time installing a Snugride in 2008 VW golf

I live in Ottawa and have gone to Carseat clinics in the past for my first sons snugride and then the marathon but thought that this time around we could install the Snugride into our 2008 VW Golf no problem. Well my husband and I were outside for an hour this afternoon and could not get the orange to disappear on the level on the side. We tried the towel trick and it still didn't work. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or idea when the next clinic is as I am 36 weeks pregnant and getting nervous about having it installed properly.

Ignore the level. They're rarely correct, anyways, so you might well be agonizing about nothing.. especially if your car was on a slight incline or if the level angle was installed off-kilter a little. Use your common sense and eyeball the angle, looking for a 45 degree recline for the newborn stage. Do you have a 45 degree angle, regardless of what your level indicator is telling you?
