Hi,

I'm just overwhelmed by all this great information (and of course confused) so I'm just going to ask my question. I have a 4 month old who is about 16 lbs and a 29 month old who is about 26 lb. The toddler is in a Britax Roundabout in her dad's car and the Marathon in my car and the infant is in the Peg infant car seat. We'll need one more seat in a few months when the little one outgrows the infant seat and another seat in 6 months when I go back to work. Dad is drop off and I pick up. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

It would help if we knew the make, model, and year of your cars, your budget, and whether your 29 month old is rear-facing (if she's not, we'd highly recommend you turn her back rear-facing.) It would also help to know if your kids are tall, small, or very long-torsoed. (Torso measurement on the toddler, if you can get it, would also be helpful. :) To get that you need to sit her against a wall, mark her the top of her shoulder, and then measure from there to the wall.)

My husband drives an 04 BMW 545 and I drive an 04 Acura TSX.
The toddler is on the small size and has a torso of approx. 10 inches.
There really isn't a budget, I'm just keeping an eye out for sales but I live in Canada so maybe my options are limited. Thanks again!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that she's forward facing in both....

I would strongly consider moving your toddler back rear facing. It is soo much safer than FF and she is just so young and tiny. Other than that for the baby I would probably get more MA's if you like them, or possibly the Roundabout 50, is that available in Canada? It gets you the same shell height as the MA with lower FF weight limit. Most kids don't make it above 50 in that anyway. :) Plus as lightweight as your kids are 50lbs would be plenty to get them to a reasonable booster age.

I would probably pass the Roundabout down to the baby and get a bigger seat to rear face the toddler, such as the First years True Fit, or the SUnshine Kids Radian, which both would last quite a long time both rear and forward facing, likely to age 5 - 6, at which point a booster seat may be appropriate.

A forward facing seat is outgrown if the tips of the ears go above the shell of the seat, if the weight limit is met or if the shoulders go above the top harness slots (Harness should be at or above the shoulders)

A rear facing seat is outgrown if the weight limit is met or if there is less than an inch of shell above the head.
