which one would you get, and why?
I am starting to do my research now. For DD, I had a graco snugride, which was fine, but there are some stress marks on it, so am wanting a new one for new baby due in November.
Thanks :D

I'd buy a Keyfit. A Miro Keyfit. I don't like infant seats but if you held a gun to my head and made me choose, that's what I'd choose. It has a tall shell, high weight limit, is super-duper easy to install (best. lockoffs. ever. put on an infant seat base) and the Miro pattern is adorable. Oh, and the handle is allowed to be in any locked position in the car, which means it can be all the way up, which means it would be, in my car.

Oh Ketchup! You're in Canadian...
OP, we have the Keyfit, but only the 22lb version, and we have no Miro (it's only on the 30lb limit version).
And back to your question, I'd go with either the Chicco Keyfit, or the Britax Chaperone -- which isn't quite here yet, but should be available in the next 6-8wks.

I'm getting a Keyfit soon. Not only does it fit little babies well but it's awesome to install and I love everything on it including the chest clip. We need a very narrow seat to fit in our car, but even if we didn't I would still go with the Keyfit. I just wish they had cuter covers for it. My kids are tall and skinny so we would only need the 22 lb limit. But I think they just have the 30 in the US now.

Being in Canada, the KeyFit only goes to 22 lbs, so I rule that out because of $$$ vs. length of use.
But the Britax Chaperone is coming out (September-ish) and I would give that a real consideration. I think it's 30 lbs and has anti-rebound bar.
Otherwise, the SnugRide 32 is always a seat with good value.

Sorry! I usually check for that...
It's still the easiest install ever on an infant seat. :)
I wouldn't buy a SnugRide 32 just because they're SO huge and heavy. Even a Keyfit is pushing the size limit on an infant seat for me!

I'm on board with all other suggestions...but being cheap, I might be tempted to look for a SafeSeat on sale somewhere.

We still have one online store that has the KF for $199 with free shipping.
Chaperone only goes to 22lbs here. :shrug-shoulders: It is in fact a very pricy seat for how long it can be used .. sort of like the Peg seats I suppose.

Kim, you're in Canadian. We have only two, possibly three, of the seats you listed. :p (unless we're honest with ourselves and consider the TT a SR32 in a ball gown, and yes, if only we all had time machines)

Well now, the OP didn't say what infant seat would you get if you live in Canada  *shakes finger at new post button*
And the reason the TT is on the list is because of the ball gown. I LOVE the fabrics for the TT. Not all hot and bothered for the seat itself, but the fabric just begs to be petted.

Ladies, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your suggestions! I guess I should have said that I am a Canadian Mama looking for an infant seat, made in the present day :D
What are the benefits of the anti-rebound bar? How much more safety does it give the seat as opposed to one without?

Yep, exactly! Narrow it down for us it would.
If you tell what you want/don't want in an infant seat us non Canadians might be able to cross-reference CN Amazon and mix and match for you.

Was that supposed to mean Canadian Amazon?? Cause you sure won't find carseats on there. Our Amazon only sells books, movies, etc.
OP, I would probably get either a Keyfit or a Chaperone. I have a Keyfit and it is awesome. I'm sure the Chaperone could only be that much more awesome with its ARB and no rethread harness.

You're kidding! What good are they then?

Btw, confirming that the Canadian Chaperone will be only from 4 to 22 lbs :( Which sucks and for me, take it out of contention when comparing $$$ vs. value, similarly to the Peg seat and to some extent the KeyFit.
Safeseat should still be around in some baby boutique and might be on sale. That is 30 lbs and less $$.
Anti-rebound is basically the 'bar' at the foot of the carseat base (against the vehicle seat bight) to minimise the rotation in front and rear collisions. More stability to the whole seat set up.

I would get the cheapest front adjust seat I could find, probably a SnugRide. Both of my girls HATED the infant seat. H.A.T.E.D. it. I have big babies, and they both fit in the MA at birth. So, I would just get whatever is cheap, had a front adjuster and was "good enough" to get me through the first month or two, tops.
If I knew I would likely have a small baby, I might spring for a SS1 or whatever Graco is calling it now....

Not much. I so wish it was like the US Amazon. There are so many things I would like to get from Amazon, but they don't ship to Canada (and I'm not talking carseats).

Is the Keyfit easier to install than the snugride? Ease of installation is a biggie for me! Also, not too heavy. I like the idea of seats going to 30-32 lbs, but honestly, my DD is a tall girl, so chances are that new baby might be the same. so, a higher weight seat, while sounding appealing, might not be needed for us. so, if the keyfit is a nice weight and an easy install, then it might be what I am leaning towards. Plus, by October, it may come in cuter covers for us Canadians :D.
Hmm, but I just saw that the snugride 32 has a 32 lb weight limit AND a 32 inch height limit...decisions, decisions!!

The Keyfit is WAY easier to install than the Snugride! (Unless you are talking Snugride 32, apparently that one is easy too). You can do it easily in under a minute with either LATCH or seatbelt. Definitely the easiest install I have ever done.

Keyfit is SO much easier. The SR32 is pretty easy, but not as easy as the KF.

If I was having a regular sized baby, i would prolly get a SR32.
If I was having a smaller baby (my last baby was a 36 weeker, came out at 7lbs 18inch but dropped to 6.8lbs and stayed under 7lbs till 2-3 mo. the 22lb SR that I had was HUGE on him) I would get a Chicco Keyfit or the Britax Chaperone.
The KeyFit is an AMAZING install, and I was playing with the matching stroller in BRU and I really liked it.
