Does this look installed properly. Straps at the correct height, safe for my daughter?
Critic me!
I drive a 2003 Mazda Tribute (same as a Ford Escape)
Sophia is 35 inches, 25lbs, 18 months, RF.
Without her in it:

How does it look?

It looks to me like the straps are above her shoulders. Straps should be below shoulders RFing.

The slots are below, I think the shoulder pads make it look like they are above.

I think the pillow is blocking a good view of where her straps are at on her. If she doesn't need the pillow I would remove it.:twocents: Also since your DD is over 22lbs you need to remove the height insert/padding she is sitting on. On page 40 of your manual it states to use it until they are at or above the 1st slot, but NOT to use it if they are over 22lbs.;)

Just wanted to make sure(since it appears you're using LATCH)...do you have a set of dedicated center-position lower anchors or are you borrowing lower anchors from the outboard sets? If so, does Mazda allow that?

IIRC Mazda allows borrowing. Our Mazda 3 did :)
I agree about the padding. Take all the infant padding out (you can still use the head part if you want/need to). She might be on the bottom slots w/o the insert :)

Mazda allows borrowing, but the TrueFit does not allow use of the lower anchors with nonstandard spacing and the distance between the inner outboard anchors in the 2003 Tribute is 15.75", so no go.

Thank you! I realized after I posted the pics and did some more reading, that I needed to remove the butt pad. I also think it will move the slots down, which means more time to grow RF!!
As far as I know, Mazda does allow the latch to be used in the center. Off to find out for sure!
Thank you!

 but
Thanks! Does that mean I have to re-install using the seat belt or move her?
Which is the better option?

If you want to keep it in the center you need to use the seat belt, and if you put it outboard you need to use either the seat belt or LATCH. Either way you have to use the lock-offs.
If you get a *better* installation outboard, it needs to go there, instead of staying in the center with a loose installation. Neither LATCH nor seatbelt are "safer", LATCH is just supposed to be easier (though it isn't always) :)

Thank you! I'll try both and see which is tighter!
