I just got a TrueFit for my parents' car! :D I posted a month or so ago looking for suggestions for a seat that 4 year old DS and my 2 year old niece could share in my parents' car. I'd narrowed it down to the TF and the EFTA. Finally decided on the TF because I thought that DS would find it less "babyish." We love the RN because it is a big boy seat.
Zellers has the seats on sale for $169 this week. I was hoping for $149 like the last sale, but I couldn't wait any longer. My dad was swapping seats out every week. He knows how to install the seats properly and how important proper use is to me, but the possible margin of error was just too big for my liking with the seats being switched that often. Much as I would prefer my niece to be RF'ing, my sis and BIL switched her FFIng a couple months ago in their car, so my parents followed suit. It does make it much easier for the kids to share a seat! The TF makes it so easy to change the harness height between the two kids, and it will definitely be a more comfy ride for DN than the Scenara my parents were using for her before.
DS hasn't rode in it yet, but I think he'll like it. I found the seat super easy to install FFing in my parents' Subaru Outback (2004?) with UAS/LATCH. Incidentally, does anyone know the LATCH limits for the TF? I know Subaru says 60 lbs, but I didn't check the TF manual to see what the limits are. DS only weighs 34-35 lbs, so I know won't be an issue for a while.
I never would have thought that I would be so thrilled to be buying my 4 year old a convertible seat. I was sure that his next seat would be a HWH combo seat that converts into a good booster. We'll probably never use the RFing capabilities of the TF, but the front adjust harness height makes it the right seat for us. I'll be happy to keep DS harnessed for another year and a half to two years in that seat, then he can ride in the PW that my 6 year old current rides in that car. Just goes to show that there is no "one best seat." I am so happy that we now have a selection of decent seats in Canada, so that choices can be made based on specific circumstances rather than simply what's available here.
