View Full Version : Where is the DOM on a Touriva?

My nephew has a Touriva for his 2 year old daughter. After seeing on here about notches in the side that have caused injuries I wanted to check the seat and make sure it didn't have them. I also wanted to check the DOM/expiration dates. It doesn't have the notches, so that was good news. We looked and looked and could not find a DOM or an expirationd date. The only thing date related was the circle date stamp thing on the back of the shell. Don't know what they are called but the ones that have the arrow pointing to the month and the year in the middle of the circle. That indicated 9/03 and the harness straps were dated 5/03. I am guessing the actual DOM would be after 9/03 since that was probably when the shell was molded. I told him that he should start saving up and planning on buying her a seat by Sept.

Then I set to work on un-twisting the straps. They were so bad I had to take off the chest clips and buckles. After I had it all back together, I had DD1 sit in it to make sure everything was back on the right direction. While she was in it, my nephew thought it would be fun to tip the seat back. When he did, the recline foot folded under. He asked if it was safe that it did that so easily. I took DD out and he picked up the seat and noticed the plastic had cracked right where the recline foot pivots. I conficated the seat and told him he owes me $35 and I will be heading to Kmart to get a new seat. So, at this point, the expiration and DOM dates really don't matter, but I am just frustrated I could not find them! Also, he prefers the cosco HBB to the Scenera, any major reason I should insist on the Scenera? I told him I felt it would be better since it has shell around the child and because his 2nd child is due in Nov, it would be an option for both children. Although that could create more problems because he would have to switch the strap heights etc. (he doesn't have a car, so the seat has to be installed each ride)

Sorry, I know this got long, any feedback is appreciated.

It should be on the sticker with the model number on the side of the seat. Dorel stickers also have a barcode.

Here it is on my 05 Scenera, but I think they're all basically the same. The DOM is on the left in the line just above the barcode.

Going by the fact that the "belt goes here stickers" that are on it, some just barely, I am guessing the model #, DOM sticker is long gone.

Still perplexed by not finding a stamped "do not use after" but guess it really doesn't matter, since I have declared it dead anyhow.

none of my seats before 03 and then only my graco seat, had expiration dates, only the date it was manufactured.
