So i need to get a booster for my son to use in the DC vehical, and then to be used in our van when we have friends come along (he and DD are both FFing in their Radians)
he is currently about 46" and about 47lb.
would prefer not to pay more then $100, and be something that can last him till he turns 9 (4 years).
suggestions please

For the price, I really like the Turbo.. but if you can wait for the new Parkway to come out, that might be yet another good option. Furthermore, if you're willing to throw in a little bit extra $$ I think you'd find the Monterey well worth it. :)

One of his friends has a Turbo, and i find that it does not fit all the way on the seat when i have the other 2 Radian's installed (outboard install, middle is only a lap belt)
I think for the same reason, the Monterey would also be too wide, unless the head wings can puzzle behind the radian.... always seems to be the top head wings that are the issue here
When is the Parkway due out in canada? any idea on width

Does he need the high back? Just asking...

Ok, here is a really ignorant question back at you - are the high back booster not safer then just the seat style? given that i really want to keep him in a 5 point as long as possible in OUR cars, i thought the high back booster would be a good compromise , and well i thought it would be safer because of his size.

Disclaimer: I am not the best one to ask about all things booster yet, though I am learning more with time. I don't have boosters in the forefront of my mind because we are so far from using them still, so all my focus personally has been on harnessed seats. Anything bigger than my 35lb/40" kid sounds somewhat big to me still. :) That's why I was just throwing the thought out there to see if anyone else would comment, really.
I am personally much happier with the highback, like you say. It offers more structure and support, and possibly head protection. But because you can't seem to find anything else that works right now, and it's the shoulder area that is an issue, then given that it is occasional use (OK I just read your OP again and this is for daycare? As in, every day or just occasionally in a pinch? for some reason last night I read this as being for a secondary vehicle he is not in often), and he is definitely over 40lbs and 40" I thought it might be better to have a well-fitting low back as opposed to a HBB that doesn't fit on the seat
I am totally open to someone else coming along to make clear to me why this would be a bad option.
