Remove insert in Nautilus?

Can my friend take the insert out of the Nautilus? I saw her son in it today and it pulls the harness straps below his shoulders. She has the right harness slot but they then have it threaded through the insert and that pulls the straps down and then up over his shoulders. I told her I thought it was supposed to be removed at a certain point. Her son is nearly 5 yo and about 45lbs.

Definitely needs to come out. I think it can only be used in the lowest harness slot. And most of us here would still have our kids rear facing if they were that small.

The insert must be removed IMMEDIATELY. It can ONLY be used with a child under the bottom most harness position. The set up you're describing could cause severe injuries, or worse, in a crash, because it is seriously affecting the function of the harness.

Have her remove the insert right away! It is only to be used with the bottom harness slots.
