My twins are both in Surveyor/vantage point comfort high back deluxe child restraint and high back boosters by Dorel. We need to replace these due to a car accident. I believe we paid about $189 at TRU, but it was a couple of years ago and I can't find the receipts.

The insurance agent wants me to send a list of 3-5 comparable seats for them to use to value the seats we are replacing. I am hoping print outs from some online Canadian stores will work but do not know what is considered a comparable seat, some of them seem so much cheaper now.

Also we need to replace a Britax Frontier, can I just give him the info about the exact same seat, there really is nothing else comparable?

Thanks,

Britax price controls so I would just print off a few different web sites showing the same price for the Frontier as proof of what you paid if that's what you'd like for the replacement. I would really only consider the Nautilus to be comparable in terms of harness height and longevity, but it's significantly less expensive than the Frontier...

So far as comparable seats, the closest to compare to at TRU/BRU for the Cosco seats is the Summit - though it's not identical. Other seats which you could compare would be the evenflo chase/traditions/generations.

Really, in terms of comparison, you're looking for a child/booster (combination) seat. Most of those seats have weight limits over 40lbs now with the exception of the dorel ones (apex does have a 65lb limit mind you...) and then convert to a booster the same way.

I believe the same seats as you're using now are available at CDN Tire under the Eddie Bauer label - is this what your's looks like? (more or less, looking at the shape of the shell and # of harness slots...) http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoSafetySecurity/ChildSeats/PRD~0466073P/Cosco%2BEddie%2BBauer%2B2-in-1%2BCar%2BSeat.jsp

I think Zeller's still carries them, but I don't know the price and can't get to the shopping site at the moment - not sure if it's still available online or not.

That's about all the time I have for finding links right now, I imagine babyproofingplus and tjskids will have more? I've only linked to the cosco seats that are ff'ing only then convert to a booster, and have a 40lb max ff'ing limit just because I'm not sure how exact the insurance company is looking to be in terms of price comparison...

If you know the pattern of the carseat that you bought at TRU, you could see if your local store is able to find it in the system. If the last sale price is showing, maybe your insurance company would accept that? Though with discontinued stuff, last sale price is usually significantly lower than what most people paid...
