after LOTS of revisions, here is our new local carseat safety brochure, with my 3 and 4 yo's riding RF on the front. They are so excited when we see the brochure around town (dr's offices mostly).

Awesome! That's a great pic and I love the little illustration on the inside, too.

Thanks! We went back and forth for months on the wording for that illustration inside. Originally, it had ages and weights (like 1yr/20 pounds for RF, 4yrs/40 pounds for FF and then booster for everyone over 4/40 up to 8 years or 4'9") and we struggled with how/if to state best practice and the law without confusing people. We ended up going with just stating best practice and I really like how it all turned out.

Right on. I only teach best practice, I don't even mention weights (other than "many convertible seats rear-face to 35 lbs. and one now rear-faces to 40" and such-like) unless they ask if their kid can and I'm telling them why not. I think that's the way to go. You can always elaborate on the exceptions, you don't get a second chance for the first thing they hear from you. I think it should be best practice. I think your brochure is great!

That is AWESOME!!!!!

If I was closer to Spokane I'd offer to help out on your June and July events. But I can't justify that sort of drive. :(

If you are ever over this way, let me know and you can come help out. I wish the state conference had not been cancelled, I will miss the networking and getting to know other techs from throughout the state.

Have you gotten involved in much on the west side? I assume there are lots of events?

I'm doing an event or two a month here, plus a half dozen or so private checks a month. I've even done presentations for a twins group (10 seats in 90 minutes, then talked and did seven seats in 45 minutes the next time). It's fabulous! People who aren't c-s.org and yet are still rabid about carseats. LOL Half of them work for either the LATCH manual or Safe Ride News. hehe Heck, Deborah Stewart was there a couple of checks ago getting her five seats done. There was one brand new tech (taught by the lady who puts it together, so I didn't doubt her knowledge, just her hands on experience) this weekend who saw I had done a Boulevard at a 45 degree angle for an unborn. She asked if I had told them that a Britax wouldn't work for a newborn. LOL Yes, I HAVE been doing this for three years, I know my stuff, but OTOH, this was her first check and SHE knew that. So I was pretty impressed.

I don't know why I'd be out that way, but if I am I'll definitely let you know. I had wondered why I hadn't heard anything more about the state conference. Oh well. Next year. :-) I still wish Lifesavers had been flip flopped. If it'd been Nashville last year and Portland this year I could have gone to both. :(

You are welcome to come and help out anytime! Just bring your Safekids card and show up. I know that the Safekids in Kootenai County/CourDLane needs help sometimes too, but I don't have a schedule of their events.

Great brochure! Best practice and nice and simple to understand.
And so jealous of all the seat checks near you.
