I have been searching for a German car seat I like. My friend is selling her 2 year old MCC. It comes with the car seat and the base with the foot prop.
It would be used in a Dodge Caravan.
If you have experience with this seat please let me know.
I am going over tomorrow to try it out with River and in my van.

One of the best seats you can buy.
It has great test results, even that it only has a 3 point belt.
There a two bases available: one for isofix and one for belt install.
Which Dodge do you have?
See here: http://www.maxicosi.com/maxicosi/carselector.aspx?language=en-en if the base is certified for your car.

Do you know about the exp on these? It is almost 2 yrs old and she wants $100 for it. Is it worth it?
I want a 3-point b/c River hates the 5-point. I have a rear-adjust and so it is a pain in the arse.
She does way better in the German Chicco then her Graco but I am not a fan of the Chicco.
Thanks again. I don't know diddly about these seats.

If you only need it to last either one baby or even a second two years down the road, you should be fine. By then, you'd want to replace it anyways. It'll probably be 6 years for expiry, and it won't be less than 5.
I wouldn't worry about it being a 3-pt versus 5-pt, either. The way that the belts are routed and oriented on the European 3-pt, in addition to the crash dynamics when a child is rear-facing really mean that there's little if any difference in performance between a 3-pt and a 5-pt RF European seat. I would, without concern, put my child in a 3-pt Euro seat if RF.
Does Germany have the Inglesina Huggy? I drooled over that seat for quite some time :)

I have the Maxi Cosi Cabrio - no base, it is awesome, my 13 month old niece still fits in it with room to spare, my 8 month old day care boy has tons of room in it. I think if I was using it for everyday I would get the base, but I only use it a couple of times a week so its not that much hassle to belt it in each time. It is really light, I still carry it around. Over here they are $399 (nzd) new for the capsule and $399 (nzd) for the base, I paid $120 (nzd) second hand for mine without the base.

Just so you know, you can get a new Maxi-Cosi Cabrio (without the base) for $150 usd (110 Euros).
I definitely got the impression when I was shopping for car seats that this was the most popular one in Germany, but I've never tried it. It does snap onto some nice strollers, if that is of interest to you.
I doubt you'll find an expiration date on it, but I could be wrong?

It is the most popular seat for that age in Germany. Normal prices are about 120€ for last year model (140-180€ for this year) + 100€ for the base - so 100$ together should be fine.

Hmm, that means legaly your are not allowed to use the base in your car. Try to contact Maxi Cosi and ask them, please.
