We just recently got a True Fit to be used as a spare in my husband's truck. I installed it for the first time today, and I have a couple of questions. Well first, the most obvious. How are you supposed to tighten the harness once it's installed rf? I already knew that there would be an issue so I tightened it the right amount before we put it in, but then once I put my dd in it it was slightly too loose, and there was absolutely NO way I was getting in there. I ended up having to uninstall it and redo it after again. Is there any trick to doing this, any way other than having to uninstall the carseat 283712839273 times? Also, obviously if I wasn't getting to tighten it, there was no way I was snapping the cover back on. Does it matter? I ended up just shoving it in as much as I could. Also, is there a certain angle it must be at for rf? Thank you!

1. Tightening: I grab on to the straps at the back of the shell at the splitter plate, and pull it down towards the floor of the car to tighten the straps on the front. Then I pull the adjuster strap to pull the last bit of slack out. We actually loosen and tighten every time and this method works great.

2. Cover: It's ok if it's not snapped down, but you can also snap it down before tightening the belt all the way, then lift the little flaps on the cover that are on each side of the belt path and use those to access the lock-offs and tighten the belt. There's no risk to just having the cover pushed down and not actually snapped though.

3. Angle: You don't need to have that red line completely level to ground. Depending on the age of your dd, you can have the seat as upright as 35*. Here's a pic of how the seat is installed for my 2.5yr old ds.

In general, if a kid looks like they're laying right down, they're too reclined. If they look bolt upright, then they're too upright. As long as you don't recline the seat beyond that red line that shows level to ground, then you're fine.

Awesome, thank you so much. Although for the tightening, I'm a little bit confused what you do after you pull the straps down by the splitter plate? How do you grap the adjuster strap to pull it tight after? Do you have it running underneath the base and pull it from the back of the carseat?

When you install, make sure the strap is up and out by the baby's feet. It it's buried behind the seat, then there's your problem I don't have to do the thing with grabbing the splitter plate. I just yank the adjuster strap to get that last little bit of slack out if I need to. I also agree with the cover thing. I hate that they put it in the manual that you have to remove it to install. I don't unsnap mine unless my LATCH strap has somehow gotten twisted or something. That flaps give ample space for installing.
