My FIL has an '02 Econoline with the older style benches, so I snagged my 8yo for some comparison pix this morning. Obviously I would NOT use a lbb in either situation, but it's good for comparison. Both sets of pictures were also taken in the same seating position in the van, 2nd bench - passenger outboard.
I measured the height of the seatbacks in both vans, and in the '02 the backrest was 21". In my '08 the backrest was 24".

FWIW, he does still ride in a highback booster and will until he reaches the weight/height limit for one even though it looks like he almost meets the 5 step. :eek: (Shhhh...don't let him know I said that...LOL)
