Apparently, the S5 was picked because it has LATCH. :confused: Although the original audience for this sporty coupe was probably not moms, Audi seems to have gone the extra mile with its connectors. Varela says: "The Latch connectors are out there for everyone to see. Built into plastic housing, the Latch connectors are easy to use, too."

my fav fr the list is Volvo XC70. alot of moms are driving that to YMCA

I haven't read the article yet, but come on, where is the Honda Odyssey love? I feel like I am driving a sports car, minivan style of course, most of time I am in my Ody. Psshh. Of course, I'm guessing not everyone wants to feel like they are a pretend racecar driver :whistle:


I must say though, I do feel some good lovin' when I get to drive the hubby's Passat :thumbsup:

Does it really? DH had one as a rental a few weeks ago and liked it. He's going to need a new car in the near future so we wanted to consider it, but Mazda says the gas mileage is 21/27 and I average 21 and can get 27 on the highway with my Sienna. DH has an 80 mile/day commute so while it would be really nice to have a 2nd vehicle we'd all fit in, gas mileage is an issue. TIA!

yeah, i don't think gas mileage was mentioned once in that article-- about ANY of the vehicles. moms. :rolleyes: ;).

Mine's a manual transmission. I average 25mpg and have (once) gotten 30mpg on a tank (highway miles, of course.) Generally I get 28mpg on the highway, though. The only time I got 20mpg was traveling with it fully loaded, and honestly - we probably had it overloaded. We literally had every spare inch of space crammed with stuff.

I remember when Motherproof first came out years ago and it was just Kristin Varela running it(and maybe one friend?).

She doesn't really seem to know that much about cars and I always hoped over the years her reviews would get better but they still are the same as when she started the website. Her reviews are not in-depth at all and it seems like she just states the obvious or puts the models brochure into her own words. I didn't put much into the article once I saw it was based off her reviews.

In my opinon the article should says "we picked the Sienna over vans X, Y, and Z because XYZ. Not that they picked the Sienna because of fit and finish...I mean really?!?! The Odyssey has just as good of a fit and finish...give me more details, back up your thoughts.

Thanks for that! I guess we also need to consider that right now he's having to buy premium (turbo VW) so even though the mileage is much better (he gets 33-35) it's probably offset to some extent cost-wise. I think we'll keep it on the list for now:)
