We don't have a CRV but our 1997 Civic EX sedan (manual transmission) has 169K miles on it and we're still on the original clutch. We  our Civic!

How about a 1991 Civic DH hatchback, manual tranny, taught 4 people how to drive a stick, and when it died it was due to the body rotting out. Still had the original clutch, which was fine.

Well, my CR-V is new (to us). We just bought it Certified Pre-Owned. I was just curious if our experience with DH's CR-V is similar to what other people have experience. Besides some major work when the timing belt broke, we've NEVER put a lot of $$ into his CR-V. Just basic tune-ups and oil changes (and of course, brakes, tires, etc.). We have a 7% grade near our house that DH drives up and back twice a day, four times a week...
And yet it's still in really, REALLY good condition.
We traded in my Subaru Outback for my CR-V. People have raved about them, but mine was a money sucker. I can't even tell you how much $$ we put into repairs on that car... something was ALWAYS breaking.
I'm just hoping that I get a good, long life out of my CR-V as well. I'd hate for DH's experience to be the rarity!

From what I know the CRV is basically a civic engine with a CRV body instead. (my BIL used to be a mechanic for Honda, and DH's sister's husbands family member works in a dealership and they say the same thing)
We also own a Civic that is now 11 years old and has 106,000 miles on it. We bought it certified pre-owned when it was 1.5 years old. We have done nothing more than change the oil and got new brake pads once. It is in need of a new timing belt and radiator flush (because it's due, not because something's wrong;)) We will be doing those 2 things shortly. but have no problems with it.
Honda's are made to last.
I worked with a guy who had a Civic hatchback with over 300,000 miles on it. One day it just didn't start, but it didn't nickle and dime him in the end either.
I:love::love::love: Honda!!

2002 and after, Honda switched to a timing chain so it no longer needs to be replaced at 80,000 miles (or whatever the recommended mileage was).
I've had the AC go out on me, but that is the only major repair I've had.

Don't put off that timing belt. Brother didn't realize it was due, and it broke not too long after the recommended interval.
What you said about CRV=Civic with a different body makes sense, since my repair manual for my Civic is also for the CRV.
My 02 Civic currently has an air conditioning leak. I'm pretty sure it's from the condenser (radiator for the A/C), which is completely rotten out from the salt they put on the roads in the winter. Other than the A/C, I haven't had to do anything other than regular maintenance.
I  Hondas. Now if only they made a vehicle with my requirements for my next vehicle.

I hope it's okay for a newbie to come along and bump this thread up. :happy-wavehello:
I love my CR-V *so* much (and Hondas in general). Mine is:
2000
automatic
125,000 miles
I hope to drive it until at least 200+, or beyond. It had tranny problems in early 2003 (beyond 36K miles). A local mechanic told me that, even though it was out of warranty, it shouldn't be having that kind of problem that early in its life - he recommended I call Honda Customer Service. I did, and they covered all parts - I just paid a small bit for labor. Haven't had a major problem since. Husband owns a 1999 Civic, 100K+. Three of the four cars I've own have been Hondas (the other was a Nissan).
I intend to be a Honda lifer.

Well DH hit 230K and yesterday he replaced the timing belt, water pump, etc. as well as the oxygenation something in the engine? But I think that brings the total to $5K for what we've put into his car (besides tune-ups, brakes, tires, the basics) since we got it in 2002.

230K - that is so awesome! This makes me very optimistic about driving mine as long as I'd hoped - or even longer. Hmm, maybe I should be aiming for 300K! :)

I have put a ton of money into the dang thing lately. We have a love hate relationship with the check engine light. My doors don't lock anymore either.

Ready for the best part? The mechanics told him that his transmission is in great shape for its mileage and he should expect around 75K more miles from it before it needs replacing! I was shocked by this, because we live at the base of a 7% grade that DH drives 2x a day. I was certain it was wearing on his transmission right now... apparently not!

2006, automatic, 25,000? I think.
I am currently looking for a convertible carseat to RF my 13 month old. What have you guys tried with good luck? I've got the Radian XT, but I think it may have to be returned. We just can't sit in the car with it directly behind, and we can't get a good install in the center. :(

2006 automatic, 25,000 miles. I like it a lot, but I am annoyed right now because I bought a Radian XT to extended rearface, and it's not working no matter how I tweak it. :(

55K miles...we have a lot of weekend driving trips, even when gas was almost $5 it still didn't keep us from taking our trips!
I love it, really good on gas and I have installed a recaro como, ss1, snugride, KF30, marathon and decathlon without any problems!

1: 1997

3. 75,000 miles
Bought this back in 11/97 and it has been running ever since. It was hit 3.5 weeks ago by a mustang and got totaled by the at fault driver's insurance company. I love the car so much that DH paid $850 to buy it back with a salvage title and got it fixed (a friend of mine fixes Japanese cars, especially Honda and Toyota). He replaced the brake, steering or alignment knuckle, headlight, and fender. It purrrrrs like its old self again. :D I plan to drive it for at least another 10 years if not more. If the car was damaged beyond repair, I would have gotten a '09 or '10 CR-V. I had already picked out the color and package for it then realized that I could fix my old one.
We are a Honda family. We bought a '94 Honda Civic - great gas mileage but sold it so we could buy a Honda Odyssey. They all ran like a chime. Honda really is built to last. Now only if they come out with a Hybrid CR-V or Odyssey, we'll be all set.
