I was just thinking about the mini-van that has the captains seats that are able to reverse (you can also install a table in them I think). I think my DH's grandparents have this model. Does anyone know if this is a safer option in a van seat. I was just thinking about how much safer it is for kids to ride rear facing. Could kids in FF seats be turned around (to essentially be riding RF) and would this be safer? Just wondering your thoughts on this as it is a possiblity that we may be able to purchase this vehicle from them when they are done with it (ususally they keep a vehicle for 6-12 months before becoming bored and want to try the next latest thing)

No, CR's must only be installed on FF vehicle seats. No rear-facing or side-facing seats are allowed with them. HTH. :)

Sorry, you can not install a car seat with the vechicle's seat in the RFing postion. :( I am not even 100% positive that a person, child or not, can ride in the vechicle's seat in the RFing position.

Yes, people can ride in them while they are rear facing.

Yes, they have a booster option built in that CAN be used rear facing by kids meeting the requirements.

No, you cannot use ANY child safety seats or boosters on them when rear facing, other than the one built in option available.

Neither the vehicle nor any carseat manufacturers allow CRs to be used when the vehicle seat is in rear facing mode, but adults and older children using the integrated booster option may ride rf.

too bad! I was just looking at my ss1 manual and it says only to install in ff seats, so i kinda figured that would be the answer. Would be nice though. Probably is still safer for the adults and kids utilizing the built in booster option!

In my head I explained it like this.

A forward facing seat (the FN for example) has only been tested FF. If you flip the seat around it changes ALL the forces of the accident, the seat may not be able to hold my DSS1 in reverse. Know what I mean??
