I placed my order for my 2008 P&T Sport in Charcoal on Monday, and last night I received this email:

'Thanks for your purchase! Unfortunately we do not have any Charcoal strollers left. They sold out really quick. I'd like to offer you the black or red dash double for $479! It retails at $649!
The dash has all the features of the sport just with 4 main differences.
a handle bar brake (way better then the sport foot brake)
a handle bar fold (No need to bend down to fold the stroller as in the sport)
more padding on the seat for a more comfortable ride
and a plastic footrest on the dash.
Or can give you the price of $449.99 on whatever color sport buggy you choose. Green, navy, red and black.
Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.
My apologies about that.

Be in touch
Sarah'

Now I don't know what to do. The other option is to get the 2009 model for $89 more. WWYD?

I think I would take the upgrade, if you like it.

Which one do you really truely want??

How much work are you willing to do?? You could take the more expensive one and then sell it NIB... I've never done this but I've always wanted to make money this way... I'm a bad person.

I would probably spend another $89 because once I've got my heart set on something I am AWFUL at pulling myself away.

But again, my favorite color is Red so I'd just choose the red one and move on. lol

I'm sorry.

I don't know much about the dash so I am not sure if I would upgrade or now, maybe look at reviews?

If I didn't like the other colors of the 2008 then I would pay the $89 to get the 2009 and the color that I wanted.

The Dash looks like the Sport but with 4 improvements. Link:

The black one is black and charcoal (at least it looks that way to me.)

I think you'd probably be happiest with that...

I just called and spoke with someone. I was considering the black Sport since it does have charcoal in it, but I didn't see it on their site. He said that was because they would be giving me the 2009 model, not 2008.

So now I need to decide between the 2009 Black Sport and the 2009 Black Dash (for $30 more.)

I know honestly... all I've seen IRL is the red one at Segal's in Beaverton and I really really didn't like the red padding thing, it was weird... It looks like that's what is in the dash?? If it is I personally would go with the Sport. I like the PICTURE of the sport better.

And it'd save you $30 (not a big deal though really once you've spent the money on the stroller).

They don't have Charcoal in the 2009 either? No longer a color maybe? Anyway, I haven't tried the Dash, so I'd probably stick with what I know.

No charcoal in either year/model. :(

So I was thinking about the Dash, and if I didn't like it, I could try to sell it on CL since it is a $649 stroller which I would be getting for $479. Then WhatAboutPuppy had to mention the padding thing and I got to looking at the two of them (the 2009 Sport and the Dash) close up and side by side, and I like the Sport model better. If you look at the front seat, where the child's knee-pits would be, the Sport looks like it has more padding than the Dash. Other than that, I don't see a lot of difference.

I am so back and forth. I hate this!

I am still LOL'ing at your VM I just got...you are too funny girl!

So you are only paying $30 more for a 2009 Dash than the price you would have for the charcoal sport? If so I would go with the Dash as it offers some nicer features.

I like that you don't have to bend over to fold it not because I am lazy but if you have to bend down to fold it you have to bend down to pick it up to put it in the back of your car. I hate this when I happen to be wearing a baby and I have to bend over to pick up my stroller. And I hated the way the handle on mine would touch the ground every time you folded it and maybe this way it keeps that handle off the ground? And lastly with the way mid-low rise jeans fit these days the last thing you need is one more time when you have to pull up your jeans!:p

Also the brake on the sport sucks and if the handle bar brake is even a slight improvement it is worth the $30.

Plastic on the footwell would be nice too as when the stroller is new you will stress every time you put J in there with dirty, dusty, wet or muddy shoes (or boots if she is still obsessed with those!).

How bad do you want the charcoal? Is it the $$ or the color that is holding you up? If she only had red to offer then I would understand skipping the upgrade but since she has black (which is my fav) I would jump at it since it is similar to charcoal and still not a loud or gender specific color.

If you want we can meet at Segals and play with them both...:D...my husband is out of town today and I am free today and the rest of the week if you want to go and play.

oooh! The hand brake!! I played with that at Segals... LOVELY!!

Yeah, that hand brake is worth $30... but the seat cushion was weird. But the handbrake!!

I was outside taking some pics of my Bob for Jess.

So um, you could hear the desperation in my voice? :o

I would LOVE to go to Segals and play. What time? I gotta jump in the shower and then it is about a 40 minute drive for me.

I am back from my playdate with Dani. Just wanted to update (for any that are following this thread.)

The Dash has some nice features. The folding mechanism is up at the handle bar (instead of down near the middle of the stroller) which is great. The pocket on the back of the upper seat is great. I can see using it for books or drinks for the kiddos. Very handy. The padding on the double seat is great, but the extra (option to remove) padding on the upper seat is funky. It seems like it is just sitting in there (like an after thought) and wants to fold in on itself. I didn't like it. Also it has less padding at the knee-pit area than the Sport. It does have the handle brake, but it isn't a push brake. You actually adjust the handle bar to the lowest position and that is how you set the brake. I am not sure I like it, but it is definitely better than the flimsy foot brake on the Sport. Here is a link to show how the handle locks:

http://www.philandteds.com/dash_index.htm (click 'Hover' and then click on the '+' sign at the handle.

Although I don't like the fold mechanism or the foot brake as much on the Sport, I do like the overall feel a lot better. It has more padding in the knee-pit area, and the fabric area where the child's feet rest, is now more durable. It has some kind of think plastic or something between the fabric layers. Granted, it isn't going to be as durable or easy to clean as the Dash, but at least it isn't just fabric. The padding on the seats themselves seem like more a part of the seat than an after thought.

I am pretty sure I am going with the black 2009 Sport. I am still getting a great deal on it ($89 cheaper than the asking price.)

It probably says this but I didn't want to read your review again... Why exactly did you choose the Sport over the Dash??

JerseyGirl'sMama
06-05-2009, 06:14 PM
It was really just the overall feel of it that I liked better. If I added up the positives and negatives for each, the Dash probably would have won, but for RL use, I felt more comfortable with the Sport. The padding on the Dash really bugged me.

WhatAboutPuppy

The only one I think I've played with is the Dash and the padding bugged the crap out of me... It was weird. It was like a memory foam insert, an aftermarket add on idea that was just a little off. And honestly the first thing I associated it with was pad... yeah, like a female... yeah... it was red... I couldn't help it. And I kept my mouth shut until you picked one! lol

Sorry.

you know this really frustrates me, because i ordered a blue camo from the same place, i can tell by the email, and they didn't have it, and after receiving the same email i cancelled my order, but what i don't really understand is charcoal and blue camo both still say instock and let you buy them, i understand mistakes happen, but they still haven't updated it:( i do have to say they were very nice, but if i were them i would get tired of getting orders for something i don't have and update the site:whistle:
