We've started looking at cars and are very undecided about even what type to get. Started with the hybrid Hondas, and ended up liking the Accord. Will I regret this car seat wise? There's the potential for 3 across occasionally. I have to say I haven't had all 3 kids once all winter. It's always been 1 or 2 of them.

I have an OLDER accord, and am currently wanting a new car because of trying to get two seats next to each other. Even the radian is off center when I put it in next to the GN. You may be able to get three radians, or two radians and something that puzzles well with them, but at least mine is not a versitile three across car. Also not sure if the newer styles are this way but my buckle stalks are a little bit long, which makes some installs, particularly FF, a bit difficult. I have to twist the buckle stalk once to install the GN outboard... but then I have to leave room for a locking clip, a newer accord would not.

Long story short - if you have radians or something else narrow, an occasional three across would probably be okay (I'd try it first though) but not something I'd want to do every day... something I'm not looking forward to, in fact.

It looks like the Accord was redesigned in 08, according to what I found on line. It's supposedly bigger. The seats in back look like they have a bit of an indent outboard. I stupidly didn't note the seat belts.

I just had Josef's SK Monterey in my mom's 2009 Accord, installed in center with LATCH...wonderful fit!!!

I  my 2005 Accord and have zero plans of getting rid of it. I have no problems installing the Regent outboard with either installation method. I can not get a good SBP (short belt path) install in the center because of the "hump" however.

You will need a more narrow seat to do a three-across, I am thinking at least one SKR seat, maybe two depending on what your riders are (booster, RF, FF). There is a mom on another board I belong to who has a Regent installed in a three-across in an older Accord and I know she has at least one SKR in that mix and most likely the other one is an SKR as well.

One rear facer, and 2 ff. Either or both could do a booster. But I do have 2 Radians which they both fit in now. But it won't be a ton longer for 1 of them. Plus I use an Avenue for the rf.

Are your seats flat or no?

I haven't actually tried installing seats, but I did take a pretty good look at the back of an 09 Accord. To my eye, it does not look very 5-passenger friendly. The outboard seats are fairly scooped, and the center seat is humped. IMO, the Accord is more of a 4-passenger vehicle that you could put a 5th in occasionally, and the Civic is more of a 5-passenger car. I have an 02 Civic, and just did 3-across with Radians yesterday, 2 FFing, 1 RFing.

I was worried about the seats being indented like that. We're thinking of the Civic Hybrid too. Practically every car is on our list!! We have 2 radians, but they won't last a lot longer for H & B.

DadBoss bought an 09 Accord. And...umm... I sorta wish he didn't, lol. THe outboard seats are smallish. Because of the curve, it's difficult to get seats there. Both older kids are in boosters in his car, so we had to get Parkways. Anything else would angle them facing more towards the center of the car than stright forward. We're going to put a Radian RF in the center. Both kids can buckle if the RN is in the center. It will fit other ways, but there's always 1 kid that can't buckle. I'm tempted to try the Scenera this weekend and see how it is between the PWs.

Maybe your 2 RN will work...and hold out hope for the new parkway for the child outgrowing the RN?

My mom has a 2003 Accord and I can EASILY get three-across in it, especially when I use a Radian. :)

I have a 2006 Civic and can get three across with the right combination of seats. :)

The Accord was redesigned in 2008.

I can get three across with a 08 Accord. I had a RF MA with a FF RN and a clek oto. The back seat is much bigger in the 08 then my 96 Accord and I found that the sides of the back seat didn't come out as far on the newer car.

In my older Accord I have gotten lots of 3 across including some FF and RF. I have pictures in the 3 across thread (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=33226) if you are interested.

thanks for everyone's input. I'll check out the 3 across thread. Did the indented outboard seats give you a problem?
