Ack! So at REI today I showed the BOB Revolution to my fiance, had both stepsons try it out. DSS2 wasn't so impressed, a little, but that darn chest clip gets him every time, he's happy to go from seat to seat until you hit the chest clip, "no no no" lol It would be his stroller but I wanted to see how long it'd last so I made DSS1 jump in, he LOVED it!! and his head was hitting the retracted hood thingy but didn't care, wasn't hitting the framing or anything.

Anyway, this stroller is just wonderful!! I've used the Sport Utility single and dualie extensively when I nanied and LOVED them too. But the front wheel needs to move as this would be our only stroller...

Any suggestions or tips on how to get a good deal on one??

You just missed the REI sale by 2 weeks - a friend got one there (& they are REI members) for $229. Check BabyCheapskate (http://babycheapskate.blogspot.com/) regularly, they'll post a sale whenever it happens!

DANG IT!!!!!!!

I saw that the REI sale just ended, yeah, that sucks. I have over $50 in a dividend check too. sigh.

I have a BOB Ironman. I fell in love and went up to pay and MooseJaw just happened to be having their draw a card and get a certain percentage off and I get 20% the stroller. Not sure if that's a thing they do often or not.

BOBs have become so popular, that I also don't think it would hurt to put an ISO on your CL.

Will you do any light jogging? If so I'd spring for the AW version.

I want the utility one for sure, revolution or fixed wheel. The fixed wheel was definitely manageable around town and in and out of the mall but it was quite large... I felt bad for people around me. This this would be my everyday stroller AND my walking/beach/camping trails/off road stroller I'd like the swivel front wheel, seems the most versatile. I know I don't need the ironman, I've used the dualie version a LOT and actually prefered the the knobby wheels!

My only fear in getting the revolution is how in love with the hand brake I was... it was dreamy for the down hill portions of a walk.

Do you want the dualie or the single?

I am going to be selling my EUC single bob revolution (with the swivel front wheel, which IMO you gotta have!) in a couple of weeks.

Jess - it's not orange. Sorry. It's not pink either, lol. It's Navy. What do you think? (I see you PM'd me. I will respond there.)

jsta- if Jess decides she doesn't want it, I will PM you. :)

This is the navy one with the little bit of cream on it also??
lol I must confess I want the orange purely because DF is a duck fan and I am NOT. lol I was so hoping I could get an Orange one on sale so I could say, "but YOU said I shouldn't pay full price!" lol

I am very interested... How much are you thinking??

I know you're not selling it quite yet (I'm assuming you're at least waiting until you have your P&T)... I'm just getting ready. lol Do you have any accessories for it that you might want to also sell me??

I asked DF if he thought you'd trade me straight across my Element for the BOB... He said it'd have to be brand new in box still. hahaha

I have the revolution duallie and am just now looking in to getting a single. I don't have my daycare boy anymore and we aren't going to have another child any time soon so I think it might be smart to get a single.

I love that I can lock the front wheel or leave it unlocked. I jog, go off road, walk, speed walk etc with it. NEVER had a problem.

DANG Jerseygirl'smamma.....I SO would have bought off you if I had the money and we had been talking. I want the navy too. To match my duallie. LOL!

It is cheaper for me to cross the border, go down to REI and buy it (Even at full price) then it is for me to buy here. I would save almost $60. I can guarantee I wouldn't use that much in gas and I didn't have to pay the taxes last time either! I am trying to justify it when I have no income and we are tight. I have to look for used...

good luck to you!

So I know to fit my needs as my only stroller I need the revolution with the swiveling front wheel that locks but I LOVED the hand brake of the Sport Utility fixed wheel... am I going to miss that when running or anything?? Is it still pretty easy to run with? I will mostly doing fast walks around our neighborhood, and the dirt/bark dust/gravel trails at the dog park... along with the "trails" that DSS1 makes up through the tall grass... also our hikes while camping... though he's still light enough to do short hikes in the Ergo.

Anyway, will I wish I got the fixed wheel with hand brake??

sounds like you really want the fixed wheel so I would go with that. I personally don't like the fixed wheels. I find it too hard to manuever. I run with my duallie, take it off road etc. I always wear the strap around my wrist so I can always pull that to stop the stroller.

you would need the hand brake when going hiking while camping if any of the trails are downslope.

my double jogger has no hand brake and halfway through a trail at a state park, the trail had a steep slope down. DH had to hold on tight to the double jogger. my boys were harnessed in the jogger so we weren't too worried.

my single jogger had a handbrake and its useful even for going down steep ramps.

my single jogger has a fixed front wheel and my double has a swivel front wheel. we are okay with both on moderate trails "hiking"

I'm worried about the fixed wheel while at the mall and zoo and such. We have a 5 year old that's walking during any activities we do so it can't be anything beyond his stamina.
I'm think the versatility of the swivel is a big deal and may out weigh the hand brake. I mean in all reality how often do you come to such a steep hill that you need the hand brake where someone like your husband couldn't manuver a single stroller?? As compaired to how many places you use the swivel wheel.

It is Navy with a little bit of light khaki and dark grey. I ordered my P&T yesterday, so I should have it within a week.

I asked DF if he thought you'd trade me straight across my Element for the BOB... He said it'd have to be brand new in box still. hahaha

I could make that happen! ;)

This wheel does lock. It also unlocks. You get your cake and get to eat it too.! :D It doesn't have a hand brake, but it does have the wrist strap that is connected to the brake, so if it starts to get away from you it will pull and lock the brake.

Oh and I want to add that you don't want to use a locked wheel in a mall - I can't imagine navigating down aisles with a fixed wheel. You would have to pick up the back of the stoller and turn it. FTR, I have tried jogging (at a slow pace) with the wheel locked, and it wasn't fun either. I don't see how people do it (or why they would.)

Aw Misty. Too bad we don't live further north.

there are alot of jogging mums at the creek trial behind my home so I could answer that question.

when its a long ( about 2 miles) stretch of straight paved trail, its easier with the front wheel locked. you can run faster as the front wheel does not wobble to the left and right.

I tried that with my fixed wheel jogger and unintentionally pick up speed.

A locked wheel stabilizes the stroller when you're running and helps you keep it under control. And if the wheel sticks out in front of the stroller rather than tucked back up underneath it, it takes no effort to just lift the front end a little to steer it when you have to turn.

Though I would never want to use a fixed wheel in a shopping mall, either!

You DEFINITELY want the Revolution if it will be your primary stroller. DH uses the BOB as a running stroller for marathon training with DD (almost 11 months) with the wheel locked. I use it as our primary out-and-about stroller with the wheel UNlocked. It would be very hard to maneuver locked all the time. We go on off-road/gravel/wooded hikes, to the mall, grocery shopping etc. The versatility is priceless. The hand-brake can be rigged up with the Revolution using the strap as PP mentioned.

Yeeeeeaah, no.

Yeeeeeaah, no.

No fun.

I've actually used the BOB with the fixed wheel through the mall on multiple occasions and actually became very proficient at it. Would I choose that as my only stroller no. It was cuz I'd park a couple miles from where we were shopping and walk and didn't want to use their maclaren (I was nannying) on uneven sidewalks and such.
I actually found I didn't have to lift the stroller at all to turn, I'd just kinda take some of the weight off the front wheel. This was even easier in the Dualie cuz it was the road version not the off road like the single. So I under stand the turning and stuff and how BIG the fixed wheel is.
Just making sure the stroller would still be good with out the hand brake.
I didn't think of the strap being tied to the foot brake, that will work for sure.

:-)

Aw Misty. Too bad we don't live further north.

I could meet you half way. lol. I do plan on visiting that area this summer hopefully. I found one on my local CL for 200. So what I am going to do is save up my money and maybe buy one down the road then maybe keep the double.
