I have an almost 5 year old (DS) and a one year old (DD). I currently keep a Mac Techno single in the trunk of my car. DS always fights me on who gets to ride in the stroller and insists that he and DD have to take turns. This is starting to drive me crazy. He has not wanted to ride in a stroller since he was a little younger than 2. I take heart in the knowledge that at least I can push the mac one handed and steer while carrying DD. DD can walk and run really well but does not walk at a 5 year old or older pace and stops to touch and look at everything. This does not help me shop. DS is about 47 pounds and about 45 inches tall. I have toyed with buying a double but he is really too big for one and he will be in Kindergarten in the fall. I tried him in a BCJMD and his head is at the top of the shade and the associate at the store told he not to buy it because DS had out grown it and it would be a waste of money.

Tell DS he is too old to ride IN the stroller, but that you need him to take turns with you pushing the stroller.

I will give that a try. Sometimes he does want to push the stroller but I really think the problem is he wants to be the baby again.

What about a boogy board for him? Some are just for standing, but others have a spot to sit, like a sit-in-stand.

Would he ride on a step instead? Like on the back of the P3?

Oh how I hope there is a good resolution to this problem. I deal with this all day long. Not just about strollers, but about everything else my DD does, DS has to do it too. He even sucks on his toys and pulls my hair while talking baby talk.
Sounds like a case of sibling rivalry. From my own experience, getting a double will not solve it, there will just be something else for him to want to do that she does.
My guess is that if you had a double, and his riding did not involve kicking her out, then he would not want to ride :twocents:

I wouldn't go with a double at this point. I was having the same issue, my girls are 3 and 5 and my 5yr old sometimes just needs a break. I ended up buying a used P3 on CL for a good price and it has been great. They take turns standing on the back.
