Is there a magical trick to this! I thought it would be easy but I just cannot istall this seat anywhere near good enough! Im tryin to do a rf install and first of all the latch straps wont reach, do you really have to unscrew the straps and thread them through the seat belt path?? I tried this but couldnt tighten them anywheere near tight enough!
this is our spare seat and im using it for my son until i can get the true fit. He just hit 31" in his SS so we are moving on to the next step in his car seat riding career. But i am gong to have to go back to the SS if I cant get this darn thing installed! We have things to do today :)

Did you move the latch strap from the ff beltpath to the rf one? You do not need any tools to do that. Just pull the entire strap out of the ff path (whichever side is attached), pull back the cover at the front of the seat and pull one side of the latch strap through the rf path, making sure it is not twisted. Just remember to make sure the hooks are facing the right way.

Oh, and you will most likely need a pool noodle or tightly rolled towel to get a proper recline angle.

To install my Scenera, I use 1 pool noodle in the seat bight (he's 16 months & likes to be upright). After threading the belt and buckling it loosely, I stand behind the seat, between the top of the shell and the front of the vehicle. I use my body to push the seat back, 1 hand to push it down at the bottom of the seat and use the other hand to pull the slack out. I pull the cover back to pull the slack out back through the belt path. The change in angle really helps.

I can usually get the seat rock solid in less than 5 minutes this way.

Hope this helps!

Make sure the latch straps are coming through the rear facing path and not the forward facing one....the straps on mine are plenty long. I use 1 noodle too in my car and my mothers.

The Safeseat is marvelously easy to install -- it spoils one it is so easy!

I just got a Cosco Scenera and I, too, find it maddeningly difficult to install rear-facing. You just need a lot of oomph to get it tight enough, but it is possible!

Thanks for all the tips! I did manage to get it in a little better and I used a tightly rolled towel to get a good angle. We are ordering a True Fit (unless I change my mind again!!) this weekend from BRU and I cant wait to try that out, hopefully an easier install than this one has been :)
