Sorry gang, I have no LATCH manual yet. Dh's coworker and dh were trying to get the coworkers new KF in yesterday and were having a terrible time of it. After an hour they still didn't have a good install. (What can I say, they're paramedics and they think they know everything...LOL...why they spent so much time on it before calling me I don't know!)
Dh said they found no lower anchors, but also didn't read the manual. And that the rear bench is somewhat narrow, he couldn't tell me how much of the KF base hung off the seat.
Soooo...anyone familiar with this truck or have a LATCH manual handy to tell me if there are anchors and/or if they've had seat incompatability issues with the bench being too narrow (back to front)? I'm going to try to run down there at lunch but it's a zoo here and I don't know if I'll get out of my office. Baby is due any day so he needs to get it in.

I'm pretty sure there's no lower anchors, as that vehicle is over the weight limit (so they aren't required), and Ford has chosen not to provide them.

I can't find a listing for the '08 F250 Ext. Cab in the 2009 LATCH manual and it would be necessary to look through the owner's manual for the '08 to verify LATCH and tether anchor information. The closest model years listed in the LATCH manual are the '02-'07 F250 - F550 Super Cab models and those have tether anchors only, no lower LATCH anchors, because these trucks are exempt from having LATCH at all due to their curb weights.* The LATCH manual indicates '02-'07 model year F250-F550 pickups have 3 tether anchors and webbing loop routers along the top edge of the back seat and the tether strap should be routed through the loop behind the child restraint and hooked to an adjacent loop. Both outboard tether straps can be hooked to the center loop, and the center tether can be routed through the center loop and hooked to either outboard loop. I'm guessing it would be the same for an '08 model but the owner's manual would be the definitive source for accurate info.
*Larger vehicles weighing over 8500 lbs., like larger Ford F-series pickups, the Ford Excursion, and some Hummer models, are exempt from having LATCH at all, although Ford did voluntarily include tether anchors in the F-series trucks and Excursion models.

Thank you!
I knew there was some reason some trucks didn't always have LATCH but couldn't recall why. :o
If I make it down there I'd definitely check the manual but having a little advance knowledge is good as I won't have alot of time.
Is it 75% of the car seat must be on the vehicle seat, am I recalling that correctly?
Assuming that it is ok that way, he can do a seat belt install and use the built in lockoff which should make things easy. One of the problems they were having was the tipping of the seat and I knew right away they had locked it at the retractor. They didn't read the seat manual (or the base of the seat, duh) and know that there were built in lockoffs.

It's 80% must be on/over the vehicle seat. (Sometimes, due to contouring of the vehicle seat, the carseat won't be in good contact with much of the vehicle seat. That's why I said "over.")

The lockoff on the Keyfit is mandatory with a seatbelt install.
