Ok, so we are having trouble placing our AO so that the lines that say " level with ground" are actually level with the ground. LOL I have a 2002 Saturn Vue, and we have used this front facing in the car, but we are using this with my 9 month old now. I removed the base ( I thought I saw that some smaller cars can use that) since it makes me have to have the seat pushed fairly far forward, but I can still drive. We put some towels under the base to try and tip it a little, but it still isn't how I want it. Plus, when I put a bigger towel under it seemed to almost bounce up a little. Does that make sense?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

First of all, let me say yay, it's great to see you are doing your leg-work to get your kids as safe as possible by finding out more!

The next thing I want to say is that you may not need the seat to be as reclined as the "level to ground" lines demand. These lines will give a 45 degree angle for your seat, which is important for young babies who have poor head control in order to keep their heads from flopping and closing off their airways. Unless your 9mo still has poor head control, he (?) can likely sit more upright, and will probably be happier to do so. You can install this seat anywhere between 30-45 degrees from the vertical. If you install more upright and your child's head falls down so his chin rests on his chest when he falls asleep, then you will want to reinstall more reclined.

If, however, you still want/need to have the seat more reclined, you can either use a tightly rolled towel or (1 or) 3 pool noodles taped together in a pyramid and placed at the seat bight. I am not sure what you mean by bounce up, so I just want to clarify what the noodles should look like. Here's my thread from way back when, when I was having issues getting a good recline angle on my own AOE and came here to ask - it has lots of pictures of acceptable and unacceptable install angles with and without the base: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=46246

This post in particular I want to point out, it's a tip worth it's weight in gold!

thanks! I have registered, but it hasn't been approved yet, so I cannot view the pictures. However the suggestions are great and we will try it! He seems fine when he is awake, but if he is tired at all he can't fall alseep because the angle is too steep. So we will try some of the noodles!

Thanks :)
