So for my b-day we got a 2nd carseat for DH's car! haha! I am putting my beloved Mariposa MA in DH's car (it matches better....boo) and putting the Nautilus in mine (unless I just can't grow to love it like my MA then it will go in DH's car) But anyway. Does my install look ok? I don't have pics with DD 'cause she is in bed but will try to get some tomorrow. (I tried to shrink the pics more but photobucket isn't cooperating. sorry!)

The base in fully on the seat but b/c of the shape there is a bit of space in the middle...i took a pic showing that I could slip my hand under a little. But it is tight on the sides...they are just higher than the middle if that makes sense.

More pics...

How is the headrest placement. Is that the correct spot for that harness position?

Is it ok that the LATCH belt is scrunched a bit?

And finally....any tips on how to get the dang thing out. It is such a bear b/c of that plastic thing on the seat. It's really hard to lift the buckle to loosen it. I had this problem with my Graco snugride. I must be Graco challenged with UNinstalls!

Thanks!

ETA: I put DD in it quickly this morning and it seems like her legs are slanted up. Almost like her body is in a slight "v" shape if that makes sense. Is that normal or something I need to fix install-wise?

Very nice! *claps*

The install looks great from here. I don't see any obvious problems.

To address a few of your comments:

1. My Nauti has the same 'gap' in the front middle when installed. Design quirk, I think

2. The head rest is in the correct position

3. It's fine that the LATCH belt is scrunched

4. To uninstall, you want to flip that adjuster down with your thumb, which releases the 'lock' on the webbing. Then you can loosen it. If you are having trouble, get your knee in the seat first, that will give you a titch of slack which will make it easier to flip down the adjuster.

I'm not sure what kind of car is shown in the photo, but if the vehicle seatback can be reclined, reclining it could make it easier to unhook the lower LATCH connector when you uninstall the Nautilus.

Thanks! It's an '04 Toyota Highlander. I'll try reclining the seat when I go to uninstall....that may help I hadn't though of that! It really was easy to install.

I will say that I really like the seat. But, it is a bit hard to see those red belt guides right by her head. I know that's just the seat design but being used to seeing her only in a MA it's something to get used to. And the harness adjuster.....so smooth....like butter compared to the MA. That is something I really like!

it all looks good to me too (i just installed mine last week)
i was actually starting to take it out of the van to move the crotch strap but then i was told to leave it where it was, it was fine there so i put it back, but to loosen the latch i had to put my weight into the seat like i did when i tightened it and then push down on the adjuster thing. (i had to ask how to do that)

I think they answered how to loosen the seat, but I had to laugh when I saw the photo. I also have a Highlander '05 and knew immediately what car it was! When I have to install a seat with that type of Latch connector, I only do seatbelts on that side of the car.
