I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I don't know much of anything about carseats. When do you adjust the harness (shoulder straps)? My LO is almost 4 months old and fairly tall (haven't measured her in awhile so I am not sure how tall). Her seat is still on the first harness setting, but it looks like it is lower than her shoulders. Although her shoulders don't quite come up to the next level, I can't tell if it is because she is slumped down in the seat or not. She HATES her carseat and always looks so scrunched up and uncomfortable.

The straps must always come from at or below the shoulders for rear facing. If you're not sure if she's at the next slots or not, you can try sticking a pen through the cover and through the slot in the plastic shell. If the pen is touching her shoulder, then you can move them up.

thank you! I wish she wasn't so uncomfortable in her seat, maybe she'll be able to move up soon.

I personally subscribe to the "when in doubt, move them up" theory for both forward facing and rear-facing. Babies that age are very scrunchy and tend to slide down in their seats, so it's hard to tell when they are even with a slot.
I'm not sure if the Key Fit 22 and Key Fit 30 have the same strap heights, but FWIW, my son is 3 months and I have had the straps on the middle slot in the KF30 for at least a month.
Also, did you take out the infant insert? (it is supposed to come out at 11 pounds). That made a difference in fit too.
