Stress marks

My snugride has stress marks on it. It was only used for 6 months, and not very often since my son was born at the end of september. winters are nasty and cold around here so we didn't go out that much. I got him his marathon in april. anyways, what would cause stress marks on the seat if it's never been in an accident? here are some pictures, they are the last 2 pics.

Hm, that's an unusual place for stress marks. I think I'd contact Graco and send them the photos.

I agree those are some serious looking stress marks and in an odd spot too. Contact Graco to see what they say. Personally if it was my seat I wouldn't use it for another baby. Just my :twocents:

Would you have noticed them being there before or are you sure they are "new"? It could be a manufacturing defect - if the plastic is molded or cools differently than planned, it can cause stresses in the plastic as it is made.

Alternately, maybe someone was fighting with getting the seat out of the base at some point? It looks like possibly someone pulled up on that end without releasing the clips or something.

In either case, I would contact Graco with your pictures, specifying that you have not been in a crash and are worried about the seat's future performance. They may replace your seat so they can have this one for testing - one can always hope. :)

They weren't there when i bought it, when i noticed them i ordered the MA and stopped using the snugride. Ive had so many people wanting to buy the seat from me, but i refused because i didn't think it was safe. I just figured I'd ask on here to see what could cause the marks. No one ever fought with the seat because I'm the only one who has ever taken my son in it. I'll contact graco next week when i am done with my exams and see what they say. thanks everyone
