Hello, I attempted to install my chicco keyfit in my sisters suburban and when I tried to install in the center, the lap belt was backwards. I ran my hand down the whole belt and it is backwards the whole way down, but still clips. It will clip either way. I wanted to install it in the center because I know she is safest there, but was uncomfy with the belt having to be twisted, so I installed in the outside seat. Has anyone had this issue? Can i install with a twisted belt? Or how do I remedy this situation?

It sounds like either the belt was installed upside down at the factory, or more likely, at some point the webbing got twisted in the latchplate. Either way, same result.
It's fine to install with a half twist in the belt. Up to three full twists are allowed.

Are you talking about the stalk with the female buckle or the actual belt with the male end of the buckle? I didn't know you can twist the belt 3 times, just the stalk.

You can twist both up to three times (total, to be on the safe side). That's why it's recommended to flip the male buckle once to remedy a slipping lightweight locking latchplate. It does put a half twist in the belt, but it's okay as long as it's less than 3 twists. It's all the same webbing.
