I just received 2 Britax Frontier seats for my DS who is 3.5. He is in a Roundabout now but I wanted to move him to a bigger seat and switch sides in my car before the new baby comes in June. He is 31 lbs and 38 inches (I think!).

Anyway, I have read so many reviews on the Frontier and how difficult the install is that I have been really nervous that I made a bad decision and should have gone with another seat.

I drive a 09 Toyota Sequoia with captains chairs and did the install last night and it didn't take much longer than the Roundabout install. I used the LATCH system and did have a hard time getting it tight until I pulled the straps through the back of the seat and got a great angle and a very tight fit. I also read on here to push the seat to the back rather than down like when installing the Roundabout.

Anyway, I guess I am wondering if I am missing something? Is there another way to ensure the seat is secrue enough? I guess I just don't understand all the install issues people have when I found it very easy ... course I do have the wonderfulo feedback from here that I used!

Thanks!

I imagine that using LATCH would make it super easy. The struggles with installs seem to come from having to use the car's seat belts. Once your child reaches 40 to 48 pounds depending on the LATCH requirements of your toyota (which I don't know what they are) it might be harder. I know for my HONDA LATCH can't be used to secure the FN once the child is 40 pounds, Britax allows 48 pounds but since honda is lower... yeah.
Anyway, I know I've struggled with the seat belt install but imagine that a LATCH install would take seconds.

If that helps explain anything.

mine is a corolla 06 and DH install easily with SBP. for LBP, it was easier with 2adults due to the length of the seat belts. Both Frontiers installed rear outboard.
