RE: This thread - Radian allows LATCH to be used ABOVE 48 lbs?? (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=80550)- in the technical forum.

The "unless vehicle manual allows" is an interesting addition to the US manual for the RadianXT.

To further add to the confusion, the Canadian manuals for both the Radian (http://www.skjp.com/simg/5353841.pdf) & Radian XT (http://www.skjp.com/simg/5353846.pdf) allow the use of UAS (LATCH lower anchors) with children up to 65 lbs. Yet the Canadian manuals do not add in a disclaimer like "as long as the vehicle manual allows it". To me, this type of disclaimer would actually be more important for Canadian manuals because the Radian allows up to 65lbs, but no (?) vehicles here do (same as the US).

Thoughts?

I think it gives the 65lb limit because it doesn't want to separate out UAS and top tether weights.

What do they say when you email them?

I know given what information has been passed to me at this point, I wouldn't use UAS past 48lbs. I honestly don't think I'll push it very close to 48lbs myself truth be told - though Jillian will be in a booster by the time she reaches there I'm guessing...

Have you had a chance to read the CDN XT manual? It wasn't available online last time I looked and I'm wondering if the CDN XT also dropped the ff'ing weight limit to 20lbs. Really bad move on the part of SK dropping the ff'ing weight limit.

Did they keep the one year? That would help. Also, provincially it's illegal to put a child forawrd-facing until 20 or 22 pounds depending on the province - add that to the one year requirement on the CRS, it should be OK
