Good friends of mine just bought a 2008 Pontiac Montana and are trying to install their seats. They have a 4 month old son in a rear facing seat. No problem, 2nd row, good LATCH install. They want him there because he cries if there's nobody beside him so 2nd parent will sit beside him. 4 yr old is to go FF in her Frontier in the 3rd row outboard. Problem... there's only 1 tether anchor back there that they can find (I haven't seen the vehicle yet) It's in the centre.

questions...

1- Is there really ONLY 1 top tether in the 3rd row of their van?
2- If there's only one tether point can you fit more than one FF carseat in the 3rd row? (We're in Canada... we MUST use a top tether)

3- Can the top tether be shared?
4- Can they place a seat outboard and use that centre located top tether?

Thanks for your help! (I'll check the manual with them when next I see them as well but thought I'd ask you experts here)

To answer all your questions

1. There really is only 1 tether anchor in the third row.
2. No, your only options back there are boosters or rearfacing seats
3. No, you can NEVER share a top tether.
4. No, the anchor is only for the center seating position.

It sounds like your friend's set up will work fine though.
