Hi,
I have read such great advice here that I thought you might be able to help me and my little one. I just switched him from a Graco safeseat to the Evenflo Symphony. He rode in it for the first time today and we drove more than usual this morning. He got sick after about 20 minutes and then was fine at his playgroup. Then we drove to a playground (he was fine) and back home (about 30 minutes) and he vomited again just before we reached the house. He has no history of carsickness, seems fine otherwise. Daddy does get carsick though.
Could it be the new car seat, I noticed that the angle of the seat is a little more upright that the Safeseat.
I would think that being more upright would make you feel less sick, but I don't get carsick so I'm not sure.
What do you think?

I don't have any experience with car sickness and babies but is it possible he just has a lil bug? There's a lot of that going around right now. We all just got over it it so thats why I ask.

Unless it continues longer than 2 weeks I wouldn't even consider the carseat as the cause. Chances are he picked up a virus.

Yes it is possible he has a bug, he has an immune system deficiency and is always sick! but vomiting is not part of his usual symptoms. I guess I will see if it lasts, or happens when he is not in the car. So far he has been fine all day, lets hope it is just a virus, I really like this car seat.

In my experience as someone who gets carsick very easily, I can definitely see it being the different angle. In an infant seat is reclined so far he probably can't see out the side window very well. If he is more upright in his new seat then he might be able to look out the side window. One of the major triggers of motion sickness is watching the world pass by (so it's worse to look out the side windows than the front or back windows). I'm not sure what a good solution would be though, since all convertibles would have him more upright than an infant seat. Hopefully, it's just a little bug instead so you don't have to deal with this long term.

Actually, all convertibles can be installed at a full 45 degree angle, even though most of us have them more upright. It will take up more room, but in most vehicles (usually in the middle seat) it can be done.

Was your new car seat aired before putting in the car, or installed right away after buying.
Some new items smell make me vomit so it could be what is affecting your child, if its not a bug. my kids dont like the new items smell and will complain but not vomit (thank goodness).

good luck.
