Ok, I don't know about any other strollers besides Graco. Sad I know.. I am just starting to research these "higher end" models. Like Peg, Mac, etc...

I have a Graco Duoglider I want to sell. It is in Excellent Condition.

Question 1: How much could I get for it? It is about a year old. Here it is http://store.babycenter.com/product/double_strollers/4909?stage=

Question 2: I dont' want to spend more than I make onthis stroller once I sell it. If I have to though, no more than $50. So what is my next stroller?

Kids age and weights are in my siggy below.

THANK YOU!!! :D

One more thing. I am kind of a try it before you buy it kind of gal. So if it something BRU has that would be great! But if you guys know of a stroller that isn't sold at BRU, and know for sure it is an AWESOME stroller that is ok too. In the end though I will probably buy online, just because of good deals

Hi Melissa! You can do a search of completed listings on ebay to see what you could get for your Duoglider. You go to 'advanced search' and then type in 'graco duoglider' and check the box for 'completed listings only'. Thats what I always do with things that I have to sell. As far as what kind of stroller to get next, I'm as clueless as you are on the higher end strollers, but know that I want to have one for my next baby (babies?) someday. Do you think you want another double or a single or something like this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pfb_r_7_0_1041968/602-9497484-7091803?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BMJ6VG? Or there are things like this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_1/602-9497484-7091803?ie=UTF8&asin=B000EN1K0C to hook onto a single stroller for your DD, but both of these are a little pricey, so it would take some shopping around. Have fun researching and shopping, and let me know what you decide!

I think I am leaning more towards the Maclarens. I am just wondering to what weight they will hold. Is it 40 or 55 pounds. And is the weight max different on all of their strollers.

I do like the idea of the Peg with the stand on the back, but that is out of our price range.

I always wonder about those buggy boards getting in your footing way?

The Mac Quest has a 55 lb weight limit, but is quite a bit more than $50.

10-13-2006, 09:58 PM
Ok misunderstanding. Once I sell my Duoglider I will have that money PLUS the $50. So I have my duo listed for $140 right now. I doubt I will get that but it is a good place to start for talking me down. :)

Anywho, do all Mac's have a weight limit of 55lbs?

Those of you who have or have had two kids around my kids ages would you just get a really nice lightweight, or get the Joovy Caboose, or Sit N Stand.

stayinhomewithmy4

Personally, my 1st choice would be the Joovy. The Sit N Stand would be my second choice. It seems that the older kids want to ride frequently, but also want to be able to get in & out easily, so that they can walk when they want to and ride when they don't feel like walking. The Sit N Stand & The Joovy both hold 45 lbs per seat, which is pretty good, but not as good as the Mac's 55 lbs. But, still, my DS #1 is almost 5 and isn't even 40 lbs, and he hasn't used a stroller since he was 3 (I suppose this could be because I had 2 other little ones by then so, in a sense, he got kicked out of our DuoGlider!) so I think the 55 lb weight limit probably isn't necessary. My almost 5 yr old would LOVE being able to ride on something like the Joovy Caboose, though. I think you'd get alot of use out of either of them. But, if you got the Sit N Stand, you could probably get an extra lightweight (cheaper) single stroller, too. I always have a hard time deciding what to get when it comes to baby equipment - there are too many choices!

Thanks so much for your input. My main problem is DD is so SLOW at walking. She also gets easily distracted. She isn't necessarily good about staying near me either. She will bolt if she sees something she likes. She is getting better at that though. When I am trying to get from point a to point B across the WHOLE mall quickly, having her in a stroller will really come in handy. Yeah, I may purchase a cheaper or used lightweight. That's a great idea!

Well, I think you're dreaming with your asking price as new DuoGliders are on sale at BRU for less than $140. I would guess $50-70 is more realistic. That said, I really liked the Sit-N-Stand I tried out at Target ($120). I liked it better than the Jovvy Caboose that tries so hard to stay small that there are no parent cupholders and there's really not much room for the kid in the back. If you want one of the fancier strollers in your price range, I think you'll have to find a used one.

I paid almost $200 for my Duoglider. It is their elite model of Duogliders. We'll see about the $140. I sold my two year old Graco Quattro Tour Travel System for $130.00 a couple of months ago. Some people told me that would never happen, but I actually had quite a few email on it. I would guess around 10 email before I had the listing deleted. I think we only paid $170 for it.

Something is only worth what someone will pay for it. So I am keeping my fingers crossed :)

I hope it sells for a decent price. Unfortunately it is not well liked by alot of people and I think that may be more where the other poster was coming from? Sadly on alot of online forums they have a reputation of being heavy and hard to steer and are very often no recommended. I kind of liked mine when I had a newborn and 2 year old though! I think strollers can be like used cars, the bells and whistles don't really help the value for resale. Plus shipping it could be tough and expensive...or are you selling it locally that may help. Good luck though and I hope it sells for a great price. Feel free to post a new thread with it for sale to get some more exposure.

Have you looked at the Chicco SBS umbrella strollers? Or even the Kidco as someone else suggested? Macs are going to run you around $200 even on ebay, you might also try stroller swap group on yahoo?

See, I don't get why the Duoglider gets such a bad rap. I loved my glider. Yes like EVERY stroller it had its cons, but it worked beautifully for my two kids. I still love it to this day and am reluctant to sell it. I have never really been exposed to higher end strollers though. I don't know of any other stroller that would have done what my duo did for the same price? I have never had problems manuverving it or getting it in the back of my car.

Anyhoo, I think I sold it this morning!!! :)

DH and I are going to take the kids to BRU later today or tomorrow to start test driving. I am pretty set on the JOOVY caboose, unless someone one here can tell me why not to buy this. The mac's are ok, pricey, but I am wanting something incase my little one gets tired. And like i said before she is REALLY slow at walking. I would like the PEG, with the rider plate on the back, but the price is to high.

I don't want to have to ship the duo so I have it listed locally on my Craigslist.

Yeah, DH and I are definitely against ever buying a major purchase at BRU. We are online buying kind of people!! Thank for the advice though.

See another prob I have is on all of the reviews of the MAc some, well alot of people complain about kicking the back of the stroller when they are walking. Some also complain about it not being for taller people. I am 5' 9.5" and DH is about 5'10" or 5'11", so that would definitely be an issue.

Anybody have anything to say about this?

I can't wait, I am so excited about getting a "NICE" stroller for the first time!!!!! I hope the Mac works, because I think I would really like it. That Joovy caboose is awefully appealing with two kids though!

I personally LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Quest, and I presume the Maclaren double would also be great. I do not kick mine, but I am only 5'5. (I did kick the Pliko, though) I seem to remember from this forum, actually that one of the BIG cons of the Sit n' Stands and Joovy caboose were that the front seat cannot recline at all if you have a rider on the back.
I am just curious why if you loved your Duo Glider and it worked well for you- why did you sell it? Higher end gear isn't neccessarily a better choice than Graco if the latter suits your needs.

I had 2 Graco's and I loved them to death but my daughter is 38" and 35 lbs at 3.5 (still needs a stroller) and was too tall for the seat, her legs too long (feet dragged on the ground:( ) and too heavy for one of them. I had an Inglesina Espresso, but for the price it wasn't worth it, had an awful canopy, sold that one on ebay, I got the Pliko because everyone raved about it- the only good thing was that it had a very tall, wide seat area and my daughter could sleep in it like a champ- and the canopy was the hugest, with complete coverage. But it was all plasticky looking and huge in my outback wagon cargo area, heavy:eek: , hard to steer and so I sold that too.

My husband just smiles and welcomes each new stroller as a temporary guest in our family! :p (And I never tell him the price!)

Definitely try out the Maclarens- the 55lb weight limit means it will still steer you kid around easily- which makes a HUGE difference!
Happy stroller shopping!

Well, I guess had no idea there were "Other" strollers out there besides Graco. I mean I knew there were, but I just thought they were overpriced and not really that special. After being on this forum though and hearing people talk about their Mac's and Peg's I thought "I want a new stroller!" I am kind of bored with my Duoglider and it is SOOO huge. I guess the main reason is I just want something new! I am only selling my duoglider to help fund the purchase of a new one, otherwise I would love to keep it. I would love to just "whip" out a lightweight out of my car and have Ds is there with Dd walking beside me for a change. KWIM?!?

I am going to look at the MAc's for sure, but I am worried about DD. I have never been without a stroller for her to sit in also. It kind of scares me. That is why I was interested in the PEg's with the ride on plate, or the Joovy Caboose.

I am so confused, and fickled right now!!!!!

It helps though hearing everyones review of their stroller!! So thank you to everybody who has posted their opinion!!

ROFLMAO!!!!

The most amazing double stroller I ever saw was on a quick road trip down to Chateau de Chillon, Switzerland during last Presidents Day weekend to say good bye before we left Europe. It was a 3 wheel front swivel all terrain walking stroller, but with a very narrow side by side profile. In fact, it wasn't much bigger than my Quinny or about 1 1/2 times a single seat Instep. Lightweight and easy to maneuver in the snow. It even caught my hubby's attn which is usually rather dense in Stroller addiction matters. :p

The kids were happy & comfortable in it despite being very bundled for winter and looking as if they were crammed in because of the bulky clothes. One was a baby, the other a toddler. I wish I had caught the brand because I've been roaming around Swiss sites trying to find it. Never saw it in Germany or France at all. Must be very exclusive. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more expensive than a Bugaboo.

Ok, so I FINALLY got to go test-driving strollers. I just went to BRU tonight, and later this week I am going to go to USA Baby which has more high-end strollers to choose from.

Anyhoo, the only stroller I liked was the Peg P3 Pliko (I think it is called). That thing is the BOMB!! Peyton hitched a ride quite well and really really liked it. I am a little confused though on how much is feels unstable. I don't get it? I understand it does have shocks and folds up easy, but that thing felt like rickety old plastic!! It didn't feel that way so much once the kids were in, but still. Am I missing something about payin $300 for stroller that feels like it wouldn't last a month? I loved the adjustable handles, as I am a tall person.

DH of course had to take it for a test drive. He was cracking me up going like 50MPH up and down the aisles. Then he comes back after 5-10 minutes and says "It's got my vote!" LOL, I married such a kid :D

Ok, now the Mac's. I did tend to kick the wheel and Peyton's feet were close to the wheels. Again, am I missing something? The wheels had a little bit a hard time turning on that slick BRU floor. I love the 55 weight limit, but that was really it. I am going to go back and spend a little bit more time with the Mac's again. I had my two little ones, and my ansy 11 year old cousin with me. It was hard to concentrate.

The Joovy is a TANK. The FP sit n stand I didn't even test drive, because that thing is HUGE.

Ok, some input Please!!!.........

As I said before I am "recovering stroller addict" LOL
I got a Pliko for Ian when we went to Disney in 2004. I LOVED that stroller. It had everything you could possibley want in a stroller and more. It was REALLY hard to sell that one <snif>
Other's that we've had include
Graco travel system ( before I knew any better )
Pliko
Mac LuLuQuest Scotty Dogs ( Ian called his doggie stroller)
Quinny Zapp- very cool stroller but no recline
and Last but not least my Fav
Mac Volo- bare bones stroller but such a workhorse
It's the only stroller we still own and I'm hesitant to sell it just in case we go back to Disney. Ian is only 40 lbs and asks to ride in it occasionally.

That stroller is so overpriced for what it is. I heard the Mac twin is better. We pushed that Peg twin around the store and it was a bear to steer. I am just not really into the side by side thing anymore, and DH I know definitely doesn't like it. Right off the bat DS and DD started grabbing each other, and I could just forsee the future.....

So we eliminated the side by sides. That Peg also got horrible reviews on BRU. It looks cute and practical but I just found it overpriced.

But thank you for your help..:D

I vote P3:) ! I've been using one for over a week now with my 2 girls
(9 months and 3 years) and I LOVE IT!!!!

Katie really likes to ride on the back and the floating harness is fabulous.
The canopy closes to the tray so the baby stays nice and warm...great for all this windy weather we've been having.

I only wish I had tried this stroller sooner! If you decide this is what you want,
you can always post an ISO on strollerSWAP, The unofficial P3 fan club:D .
There's usually one or two for sale there. Also, some places may still have 2005's for around $199.

Awesome Holly! Thanks for the link. I am looking at one right now on Craigslist a lady has for sale. It is a P3 that is like a 2005 or 2004 model. It IS used, and she is asking $90. It looks great in the pix and she says there is nothing wrong with it. I thougth $90 was a good price. Sure beats $300!!

Hi Melissa,

The fact that

a. She didn't list it on your stroller forum and
b. She is only asking $90

would make me a little wary- because usually people get a bit more $ on ebay (even craigslist, IMO) for a P3 that is only a few yrs old. Perhaps you can ask her some questions like how does it handle?, does it steer well? Are there any mechanical issues- i.e. folding, squeaking, wobbling?, why is she getting rid of it so cheap?, etc. It could be a great buy, but you wouldn't know until you get it in person- her photos look a little blurry to me also. I'd ask her to e-mail you some better pics and answer your questions satisfactorily before you make a decision. Good luck!

$90 is a good price if it really is in good shape.

I agree with everything Tina said and one more thing to keep in mind is that P3s need to be lubed every few months or so otherwise they can get squeeky,if
that is neglected then it can affect the steering, folding, overall performance.
Also, if a REALLY large older kid rode on the back, the whole frame could become a little loose. It might be a good idea to ask for a good close-up of
the wheels just to see what she means by "wear".

It is a little odd that she didn't list it on SWAP. I would wonder about that too. Do you know which SWAPper it is?

I have an old Lands End Dk Green Diaper backpack bag. 3 years of hard use and it still looks almost new. The center pocket will hold over 20lbs of books from the library. Great for exercise and toning up, that's for sure. :D

Ohhh congrats! I just got on to PM about the pictures I was going to send you. It was my birthday last Thursday and my hubby took me on a surprise get away this weekend so I wasn't able to take pics for you. And it was bugging the heck out of me all weekend that I told you I would have them to you soon and then never sent them! But I am so glad you found one...I hope you love it as much as I love mine!

Ooooh, Sounds wonderful. Good luck :D I'm requireing a complete report when you get it. :p ;)

Ok, OK, so I got the stroller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!

Well, it is definitely well used, but appears to be in good condition. I definitely wouldn't say excellent, because there are quite a few scratches here and there. Overall though I think it was a good deal ($90, w/shipping $108). The skins and canopy though are in pERFECT condition. It needs a little I mean a little light cleaning on the wheels and frame. I guess I can't complain much though, because it sure beats paying $300 for a new one. This one seems to have all the features and even looks exactly like the new ones too.

This stroller is a BREEZE to push, and DD didn't want to get out of it. I love the adjustable handles and very high seat back. The only two complaints I have for it is one, it needs a larger and easier accessible basket, and needs a parent tray organizer. She did have a cup holder on the left handle though.

The P3's just seem to "PLASTICKY" to me to be worth $300, but it pushes like a dream. The two handles kind of move when you are pushing, and steering it. Which is a little bothersome, but I guess I will get use to it. It is kind of noisey also when you push it. My Graco's are quieter. It just doesn't seem very "Solid". OK OK, I will stop complaining, because I LOVE IT!!!

It's like my new TOY!! I can't wait to take it to the mall. I am meeting another Car-seat.org Forum member tomorrow morning to try out her new Phil & Ted's E3. And she is going to check out my new P3, to make sure it is ok. She is a CPS Tech also.

Your stroller may need lubrication- just stay away from anything oil based, I'm not sure what Peg Perego recommends, but oily stuff attracts dirt- and then you get squeakier wheels. My husband used to do ours in the garage with some secret stuff, so I have no idea what it was. The covers clean up great in the washing machine- one nice feature. Good luck with your test drive!:p

Hey Tina,
Could you find out what your husband used. That would help me out a lot. I just read your message to my husband and said maybe he(your DH) was using "Silicone" Spray. DH said he will probably have to wipe it up though where with oil based you don't.
Let me know,
Thanks!! :)

Check in auto stores or Walmart's section for a "Graphite" powder. That should work great. They come in small tubes to help your car's keyhole loosen up after sticking or freezing. Doesn't attract dirt, even though the powder is carbon & black

Sounds like you're having more fun than test driving a car :p

Yep, graphite powder is what we use for this purpose.

Yes, exactly- he said it was graphite- which is a powder, and can get everywhere if you're not careful. But he said that somewhere on the planet, a graphite lubricant exists that is a spray, which puts the graphite where you want it but the the base evaporates, leaving just the graphite behind. He hasn't seen it around since he was a kid, though. (He built bicycles)

Hi there, glad you love your stroller. My mom bought me one as a baby gift, she worked in a baby store and she said that the p3 isn't made out of plastic it is graphite.

Also she told not to use WD30 but a silcone spray (that is what they use in there store)

My handles move or wiggle but they said that they can't be too tight because it would interfere with the closing mechinisms. That does make sense!

The basket is a little tricky, but now that ds is older I find it easier to pull down on the side of the basket to shove stuff in. For sure not the easiest to get stuff in and out of.

Oh yeah, there are also parent cup holders out there that work on the p3! The one that it comes with doesn't fit many cups or bottles:(
Good luck and happy walking!:)

Thank you Julie. That does help clarify a lot!!!

Well, I took it the mall for the first time for 6 hours!!!!!! It was awesome! Peyton loved hitching a ride on the back. It is just as easy to push whether she is on there or not. I saw two Joovy Cabooses today and have to say they look very appealing, but I saw a lady struggling to manuveur it through some clothing racks. On top of that she only had an infant in there. I would definitely recommend the P3 to anyone. It is so easy to fold up and throw in the back of the van. I would like to say now though that I do think it is worth $300 new!! But I sure can't beat my $90 used priced. Another car-seat.forum member met me there at the mall to check it out. She said I got a good deal on it, and everything looked great. She has a Phil & Ted's E3 that I test drove. WOW, that thing is nice! But $600 is not very appealing to our budget.
Anyways, thank you everybody for your input on the "Squeaky" situation. My husband is going to lube it up tonight :D
