So I have a daughter she is 39 pounds, she is over 3ft tall... And she is in a alpha omega forward facing carseat right now.. It is getting really tight on her.. I have purchased her a new booster seat.. do you think that she is ready for it yet?

How old is your daughter? If she's 5 or 6 than yes, that would likely be an appropriate option. Booster safety is largely based on a child's maturity level and ability to sit safely in a booster seat all of the time. The Graco Nautilus is rather newly available in Canada. It harnesses to 65 lbs and then turns into a booster seat. I would urge you to look into that :)

4 years old AND 40 pounds is the bare minimum recommendation for booster use. And that's not even full-time use, it's occasional, short trips. Younger children don't have the maturity and impulse control to stay properly positioned in a booster. Lighter children don't fit well, and risk submarining in a crash. Submarining means the child flies out under the lap belt.

Your Alpha Omega seat is probably already outgrown. Unless it is a very new model with a 50 pound weight limit, the top position is not reinforced for harness use. The harness may rip out in a crash. Until you can get a better seat for her, use the booster that you have just purchased.

How old is your daughter?

There is no age restriction in Canada - just weight. If she is the 40 pounds minimum by all the provincial laws she may go into a booster. Best practice is try to keep her in a harnessed seat for longer - maybe going to a child/booster - harnessed until 47 or 65 pounds and then a booster - for safety.
