I'm thinking of getting a new seat for my 10 yr. old (as per previous post, her parkway is nearly outgrown and doesn't fit in the space) and I was wondering if the Ozzi is an option. I found the Olli but man it's pricey. My dh may have something to say about a $120 lbb. Is the Ozzi cheaper?
thanks,
morgan.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the ozzi may be discontinued but I think there is stock left over at some Canadian Tire stores?? I would start by calling Canadian Tire. As I said I'm not 100% sure on it, I just remember seeing a thread something to that effect.

I think the Ozzi is the new "Otto", which is a little different (narrower) than the Ozzi. The Otto is discontinued and was, in the past, available at Canadian Tire. Very nice LBB for a narrow space....

On the magnaclek website they have a comparison chart and it seems very similar to the olli but with fewer features. I was thinking that would lower the price. I'm pretty sure it's the Otto that's discontinued (based on the clek website info), but I can't find it in a Canadian store.

Anyone else?

The Oto can still be found in some stores, i know they still have several left in stock at my store in Mission (Fraser Valley) as of last week, they were still listed at $59.99 although I have seen posted on this site that some people have received a good discount due to the old manufacture dates. Good luck.:twocents:

Hmmm, I really more interested in an Ozzie, I don't like the Oto so much. I'm thinking the Ozzie isn't available since no one seems to have heard of it.

Try contacting Clek and asking them http://www.magnaclek.com/canada/english/contacts/index.aspx

or, on that same page is a store finder. See if you can find a dealer in your city or nearby and call and ask them if they can get it.

Morgan,

I'd contact Clek and ask. Maybe the Ozzi is coming here? I'm pretty sure MagnaClek is a CDN company (has roots in the auto industry... Chrysler maybe?) and has been really good about debuting seats up here either at the same time as in the US, or very shortly after.

The Oto has been discontinued and DOM's are in the '06 range. You can probably find an Oto at CDN Tire if you haven't seen one IRL yet. I bought one for my 7y/o niece to use in my parent's vehicle, and everyone really likes it. At 10y/o your dd's probably wanting something as grown up looking as possible, and the Oto is so low profile and sleek it almost looks like an extension of the vehicle seat. It's very similar to what an integrated booster looks like in some new vehicles these days.

Anyway, I was able to get the Oto down to $41 if I recall correctly. I just asked to speak to the manager, explained that car seats expire, showed him the DOM, date of expiration, let him do the math, he then typed something in to his computer, and came up with $41.

Good luck!

IME, I'd skip the Oto for a 10 year old anyways.. My son was 10 when we bought ours, and he was too wide to use the mandatory guides. Our Olli fits him quite well, though.

lol, good point Nicole. I still think in terms of a small 3y/o's tooshie... I guess when I think about it now, my 7y/o nieces bum fills the entire seat. :o

Thanks everyone!
I did contact Clek so I'll see what they say. I'm very confused as they have a comparison page and it says the Ozzi has no arms but the pic. on the Ozzi page looks just like the Olli but black and no little strap in the front.

As for the Oto, I'm going to call my Canadian tire and see if they still have any. Where on the seat or packaging is the expiry date though? I checked last time I was in there and I couldn't find any.
My dd is 10 but she does have a tiny tush, in fact it's brutal finding jeans small enough. At least the Oto may be one I could try, nowhere in my town (Nelson BC) sells any other Cleks.

Thanks again, I'll let you all know what I find out.

Thanks for pointing out the error on our site. ozzi does have arm rests, but they are not padded. We've started shipping ozzi to Canadian Tire stores. The product number is 46-6011. You would have to call your local store to see when they're getting their delivery.
Thanks

the dom is on the UAS/Latch clips. My Canadian Tire store has 5 in stock right now. However I'm not 100% sure which model it is. However I do know it doesn't have arms....its on for $54.99 i believe

ETA: hmmm, after looking at the site, it might have arms...the box looks pretty narrow for arms.....I donno.

Thanks for the info (and for clarifying the armrest thing, I was definitely confused about that), I'll phone my local CT today.

Ack, I almost bought a new booster and then double checked the height limits! It says max of 57" that's less than the legal 4'9". My 10 yo is 4'7".

SOOOOO CONFUSING!

Is it like the Britax rf height limit?

What should I do?

Thanks again,
Morgan.

OK OK, I can't do math, LOL. I see my mistake now :o however I'm still confused. I guess I thought that the 4'9" was a minimum, like the 4 and 40 lbs rule. So if she's 4'7" and 10, is it worth it to get a booster? Is that max on the Ozzi a "law"? Or like I said before, is it like the rf height rule on the MA? Why would there even be a max height, isn't it ok as long as the headrest is behind her head?

Hmmmm......

What would you guys do?

Bingo!

Do I win a prize?

One more thing--since it's not in my signature line.. My 11 year old son is in a LBB rated to 100lbs and 57 inches. He's 125lbs and about 61 inches. He still does not fit the adult belt in one of my vehicles in 4 out 7 possible seating positions. One of the 3 he does fit the adult belt in is my front passenger seat. The other two are captains chairs occupied by younger children. There is no booster currently available that he has not "outgrown", yet he still needs a booster because I do not have a seating position available where he fits the belt appropriately.

A booster is a positioning device, and not a restraining device. I'm comfortable with my choice, personally...and my son is much more comfortable in his booster.

OK thanks. Man, it just never gets easier does it? Why the heck do they put such a low height?
Arg.
I guess I have to make a trip to the store (next town over) and try her in the seat in my car. They only have the Oto still.

In the meantime she's boosterless but all our driving is in our tiny town at low speeds and I think she passes all the tests in the spot she's in. I'm only not 100% sure about the belt at her hips one, important I know.

Thanks again.
Morgan.

p.s. i think we should all win a prize!
