I checked a 40# truimph the other day. The mom was putting his arms through only the front strap andleaving the other behind him. I have seen this 2x lately. I am glad the 50# ones only have one strap.

I used to see that a lot. I hated that double strap, for that and many other reasons.

Yep, I saw that too. Also glad the new ones don't have 2 straps.

Yep, it happens even unintentionally. My inlaws have one, and have done it accidentally, even though they know how it's supposed to go and are generally careful.

I've heard of it here, but never seen it. My bf and I both have and use this seat for our kids. I also have the new EFTA. I actually prefer the double/memory harness of the old one, and I can't figure out what's so freaking hard for most people. The same people who don't read the manual on that seat aren't going to magically read the manual on any other seat. I realize it's a bit different, but it's not *that* hard. I only wish that they'd kept that harness and allowed harness covers for the red tabs on the new one!

I know how the double harness works, I just find it annoying. I'd rather tighten/loosen each time. It's a user preference thing, just like some people can't stand puzzle buckles.

I have an old EFT. While I have never done what OP points out, I hate the double harness. It's OK if I don't loosen each time, but sometimes DD just gets so mad that I"m cramming her arms into a tight harness. So when I have to loosen and tighten, it's a huge pain! But I have to agree, I'm also glad I don't have those red tabs...

I'm confused.... what is it, does someone have a pic?

No pic, but maybe a description would help. A single strap comes up from the hip, goes through the slot in the male portion of the crotch buckle, up through the chest clip, over the shoulder, around a bar of some sort in the shell, back down through the chest clip, and is sewn/attached to the male buckle.

It's a memory harness because you can loosen it and put it back and it "remembers" how tight. To loosen it, slide the male buckle tong up towards the shoulder, and pull down on the harness near the lap/hip. Put kiddo in. Then, when you pull down on the buckle to fasten it, the harness goes back to the same tightness it was.

When I had this for DD1, there were a few times I'd unbuckle her to realize I had put her arms through the straps. And I was usually careful. It just happens sometimes, especially if it's darker out. Glad they got rid of those, but they could do away with the red tabs!
