Key Fit question

I was cleaning up the Keyfit for sale, and was surprised to find that when I was going to take the harness off to clean it that it is anchored inside to the bottom of the seat by what looks like a thing that works similar to the splitter plate. I couldn't get it off of there, I didn't try really hard, just sponged the harness with it on there.

But, what concerns me is that it appears to be on only on the side that is toward the seat back. The side facing out to the feet is either off, or is possibly supposed to be that way?

Does anyone know? I suppose I could email chicco, but I emailed them about harness covers and still haven't heard, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for any info anyone can contribute.

ETA: Sorry, I can't post a pic right now. I'm incapable and have no one to assist!!

It seems it is supposed to be like that. It is like an s hook, and I was able to get it off by putting slack in the harness from underneath. I could take pics if you want:)

Jennifer, you don't have to. If it's supposed to be like that, that's all I need to know. It seems a little weird. Thanks for the offer though!
