We are finally turning my 4 y.o. DD FF :( as she has less than 1 inch between the top of her head and the top of the seat shell RFing. She still only weights 32lbs.

We are installing her seat FF in a 2006 Town & Country van, in one of the captains chairs, using LATCH. We are a bit confused about whether the back of the car seat should be flush against the back of the van seat as this seems to make the base not fit flat on seat-- part of the base ends up not touching the bottom of the van seat.

If we put the car seat so the base is in complete contact with the van seat bottom, the carseat ends up looking more reclined, and then part of the carseat back is not touching the van seat back.

My inclination is to put the back of the carseat as flush with the back of the van seat as possible, from the standpoint it is safer to be more upright when FF. Am I wrong? Would we need to put anything under the base to make up for where it doesn't make contact the van seat if that is right?

Are there any other tips or advice for installing FFing?

I had the same issue with my marathon.I just put the seat flush against the seat back. Then installed the tether and latch.Once I had it hooked, then I put my weight in it and pulled tight my seat ended up sitting flat on the seat at the base after my weight combined with a tight install.Sorry if this doesnt help.

Maybe a tech will come along. But I wonder if you could put your van seat in a like 1 notch recline so the seat would sit more flush.

Make sure you put the seat in upright mode, and switched the latch connecters. But, like the others said, as soon as you actually install the seat, the bottom should end up flat.

The base did end up flat against the seat bottom, and the back is tight against the back of the seat after my husband installed it. It seems very secure, and doesn't budge at all. My husband must just be better at these things than I am. Thanks for the input :)
