As stated, we have a 2008 Extended Expedition. I am trying to figure out how to safely install our 10 month old's Britax Decathlon rear facing. I would prefer to use the 2nd row, middle seat if possible.
The best option I can come up with is using the d-ring, but there is nothing directly in front to bolt it to. Is it okay for the tether to be on an angle? I wouldn't think so, but I'm not the expert :)
Any help is appreciated.

We also have two 10 year olds who are normally in the 2nd row as well.

Yes, that's fine. The rf tether is a bit different than ff. The rf tether point is rarely directly behind the seat. Use the d-ring to create a tether point- the front seat legs often work well. It can angle to either side; just be sure not to tighten the tether so much that it pulls the shell to the side. It should be taut so there is no slack, but not so tight it changes the recline or pulls it off center.

My Expedition is an 2004 model so not sure if it is the same under the front seats, but I have a great spot for you.:)

On mine the legs of the front seats are kind of hidden which can make it hard to find a good spot. If yours are like mine there may be a cover over where the leg is bolted to the floor. You can pop that off and it makes it super easy to get the Dring around the leg. ;)

Can't believe I found a post about this! I am trying to install my decathlon (for my 10 month old) backwards as well and cannot find a place for the top tether to go. Any way you could send a pic to me or post one on here? Also, did anyone else have problems getting the seat tight using the LATCH?
Thanks!!

Here's you some pics Stacy of my RF Marathon and its tether location.:) Hope this helps. Also if you don't seem to be getting a tight install with the LATCH, make sure the base isn't sitting on the LATCH bars or the connector's. I have mine slightly pulled away from the bight of the seat so it won't hit.

Thanks a million for the pix!! My main issue now is that I don't have a D-ring but I think I'm going to order one.
I appreciate your help!!
