I have a Marathon that will expire in July. It's not in use right now, but I'm wondering if I can still use the harness, cover and buckles after the seat has expired? I know I'm supposed to destroy the seat, but can I recycle the cover and other parts in case I have to wash the cover or harness on another Marathon?
What parts can be used still?

Harness will deteriate over time, also they are not suppose to be washed (submerged in water) only spot cleaned with a damp towel. I believe Britax wants the harnesses replaced every year (I maybe wrong, I heard a girlfriend talking about how she had to order a new harness because her's was a year old for her daughters Marathon? I don't have a owners manual for one since we don't have one, but I believe it would be listed in there).
The cover should still fine to use, I wouldn't on the harnesses or straps though since the seat is/will be expiring soon.

Cover, yes. Harness and buckles, no (assuming they are not replacements you got several years into the life of the seat.)
The cover and pads are the only parts that don't expire on a seat.
When you say "wash the harness" what are you describing? You know that you should not immerse the harness straps and should wipe them down/spot clean only, right?

Um, I have never heard that, and do not think it is accurate.

I don't either that's why I said I wasn't sure just heard a girlfriend talking about it.

Ok. I'll keep the cover and pads, then cut up the harness. Yes, when I said "wash" I meant use a tide-to-go!

I don't even think that I would Tide to go on the harness. But that is just me.
I have owned 4 Britax seats and have never heard of having to replace the harness. I think that the friend of the PP is wrong.

FYI, old harnesses make great belts.

:yeahthat:
It is only necessary to replace the harness if it becomes damaged.
And no, I would never use Tide-n-Go on a harness. Nothing more than spot cleaning with a sponge, warm water and maybe some very gentle soap.

I was also told that the hugs do not expire by one britax rep.

While that may be true, unless you get it in writing I would take it with a grain of salt. Britax CS reps tend to be rather clueless.
