The tether is mandatory- just the top part. It's best to always have it tethered, though. The lower anchor strap has a limit of 40-48 lbs depending on your vehicle (with very few exceptions) and you'll need to switch to the seatbelt at that time. What vehicle will it be in?

Ok tether. I am not good with lingo;) I knew what I meant....harder for you but I knew.
I am having problem with my scenra in a chyrsler sebring but if it requires tethering the regent is out. The car is not latch equipped. The car i 2001 or 2003 ;) econd choice would be Nauti followed by TF

Just wanted to add that on newer, post-advisory (post-June 2007) Regents, the tether is required with the sort belt path, which is required for kids over 40 lbs.

'01 and newer Sebring sedans and 2-door Sebring convertible models are LATCH-equipped with lower LATCH anchors and top tether anchors (actually tether anchors only in the '01 Sebring convertible but '02 and newer Sebring convertibles do have full LATCH), so your Sebring isn't lacking a tether anchor for the Regent or for top tethering other FF harnessed seats. :)

I have physically looked for the anchors (they are in the ford focus) and can not find one. I have also searched the manual. That said, where might I find the tether/anchor points It is the sebring convertable. I looked where the top goe down as that is the only place I could think of. There is not a head rest either and I have heard some car seat need those.
Also when I retract the seatbelt the seatbelt does not make the clickity click sound that the focus makes....

According to the LATCH Manual, tether anchors for 01-06 convertible Sebrings are in the outboard positions, on the "body structure behind seat."
Many Chryslers have belts that lock at the latchplate rather than at the retractor. That means that instead of pulling the belts out all the way to lock the shoulder portion, the lap portion locks on its own. The easiest way to test this is to sit in the seat, buckle the seatbelt around yourself, pull it tight, and see if it loosens. (Or, once it's buckled, pull straight up on the lap portion--it should stay locked.)
