While waiting in line at the grocery store just now, I saw one of those "Use LATCH! It's safer!" commercials. (On one of those in-line entertainment thingies.)
It made me groan out loud, and I think I freaked out the guy in front of me, considering I'm 36 weeks pregnant :p
I so wish NHTSA would have directed its money toward making LATCH a truly standard system instead of publicizing it when it's still so confusing.
I totally agree. It was discussed at Lifesavers. I hate those commercials!

I saw one of those. It was on the TV over the meat dept. display. It also talked about how "after 1 year and 20 lbs., the baby should go forward facing! And after 40 lbs." (here it showed what looked like a 35 lb. 3 year old) "he should use a booster!" (backless booster, didn't position the belt right.)
People were walking around me giving me a wide berth and strange looks as I yelled at the tv and my husband tried to drag me away...

Those are one of the reasons I know people who have latch installed for kids over their latch limit.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr
If they spent half as much time and energy making people aware that the minimums are just that, then we'd see a lot more safely restrained kids.
