AJ saw it, and I actually had to speed up to catch the car just so I could see it. I was so ridiculous. But I had to see it for real, I've never actually seen this happen IRL.
Yes!! A kid of at least 2 years old RF in a RA! It was sooooo exciting!

Well maybe you'll see my DS and his GF(both ERF) there at the end of the month. ;)

Cool! Except for a few toddlers that I've talked parents into turning RF at seat checks, I've truly NEVER seen a child RF past age one except for DD. (I never even saw Jeanum's DD RF, because we're always together without our kids. :p)

I've never seen it before. I am the only one I know of IRL to RF past 12 months - DS is 18 months old today. Hopefully, though, I will be seeing it in family members if I hound them enough when the time comes.. lol

I've seen it, but I dunno if this counts. My BFF kept her daughter RF until almost 2 and one of my day care boys was RF until sometime in the last 2 months. He was turned while I was on maternity leave....he's 18 months and TALL.

I've seen a few whom I don't know, and convinced a lot more whom I do know. And I enable it in my niece (whom I've never actually met, but have seen pictures of, and her mother decided to ERF BEFORE I brought up the subject.) Oh, and I've seen my cousin's kid when he was doing it (before he hit 35 lbs. and had to turn, and actually his parents decided before I brought it up too.)

one of my nanny kids- 29mo old was just turned FF, and my nephew is 28 mo and just turned FF too... people are beginning to understand and keep their little ones RF! be encouraged! I know someone who had their pediatrician tell them it was ok to FF under 1yr old finally turned their son back RF and he is about to be 2 now, still RF!

I saw an ERF toddler here the other day...I was walking into work, I spied a Volvo XC90 with a RF MA, and a kiddo at least two. Then I realized it was one of our pedis and I got really excited--there is at least one doctor here who realizes the benefits of ERF.

Hehe, I'd be excited too! The only ERF'ers I know are DS and my nephew. I think we've already convinced my sister's friend though - her baby is only a few weeks old but we've given her a crash course on car seats in the last few days after we found out that she was using a hand-me-down 3-point Discovery. (Luckily it isn't expired, but she didn't know CR expired until we told her.) So my sister and I are going to put our funds together and get her a ETA so that he will be safer and hopefully there will be another ERF'er on the roads.

DS just had a check-up the other day and I slipped into conversation that DS was still RF'ing at almost 4yo (we were discussing his size, he's tiny). I just wanted to see what she would say. LOL But she actually said "well, I guess so!". So that makes at least one other ped that doesn't tell people they should FF based on age or weight.

an obviously two yo rf in a RA? must have been pushing the height limit.

I was shocked one day I saw someone at church putting their over 1 year old dd in a rfing britax seat. I think the baby is 14 months old and she looks chunky enough to be well over 20 pounds too. I've never seen any others.

:ROTFLMAO: That was my thought too, but then she never said it.
I have quite a few friends IRL who erf. Not necessarily to the limits, but I figure anything past the minimums is great. I have a lot of parents at work who I talk to and are planning to keep their kids rf'ing past the minimums too. I do think it's starting to become more common in some areas. Of course we still have the under minimums ff'ing in horribly installed seats, but progress is progress.

I bet my 4 year old could fit rfing in the roundabout. She still has 2 inches over her head in the tribute. Too bad it only rfes to 30 pounds.

Yeah, he was over the height limits. That's why AJ noticed it and knew the kid must be older. She kept telling me it was a MA and that I REALLY had to see, a kid RFing long enough to outgrow a MA by height. But, it was a RA, and his head was over the top. I just didn't want to taint my giddiness by pointing out the only obvious sign of misuse.

I saw one once too while driving. I was driving behind a small car (i have a minivan) and I could see into the back seat. I saw the top of some seat and this big old noggin looking back at me. He was easily over age 2.
And yes, I about wet my pants

WOW! Cool! I only know of one other ERF in my area but I haven't seen her in her seat. Her gm is a car seat tech and mom is a ERF and EH. It is so exciting when I get to talk to her about it. I did see another BV in a car the other day and was so excited! (started a conversation in the parking lot and mom said they had just moved from FL) I've never seen another BV in my area much less a real live ERF! I am starting to see MAs since Target now has them but they are always ff. It always disappoints me to see such a great seat not being used to its fullest.

One of my friends, whose oldest was born a few weeks before MY oldest, kept her DD RF to 2, all on her own. I had nuthin' to do with it

Yeah, the word seems to be getting around. I was waiting at the bus stop (school) with my son a few months ago and two teachers were talking about it now being recommended to leave kids RF to at least 30 pounds. I was yelling, "YEAH!!!" in my head because people are finally at least hearing about it. Now if they actually follow the advice, we'll see. I hope at least some will. If we can just get a few to start, maybe others will follow.
And Estelle, when did you change your user name? I just noticed it. Thank goodness your avatar is Charlie.

My niece outgrew the MA RF by height at 2. It was a sad day. She's all torso.

Great! Too bad he was too tall for it. :(
My DD is the only kiddo I've seen over 2 and still RF. My friend (who turned her DD FF at 11 months) turned her DS FF at 13 or 14 months... I guess that counts for something.

I have seen it twice in El Paso....
One lady visits here occasionaly. She had her 20m old rf still in a FPSVD. I had to stop her and talk to her about it. LOL.
I parked beside an SUV with an upright RF Marathon. I figured the kid had to be older so I went snooping. I saw a couple with 2 little girls. They just looked like Marathon owners so I asked and sure enough... They had their 22m old still rear-facing.
Yes I am bad I will actually approach people to ask about it.

My DS turns 2 Sunday, as around 29#s and still fits RFing in his RA- so it is possible. I have short munchkins! But, it seems that most people don't think he's 2 despite the fact that he runs, talks, and can start a car.
I've seen a few other ERFing kiddos, mostly at swim lessons. I guess parents that are safety conscious in one way tend to be more with car seats too- not that there aren't misuses there too. I try not to look sometimes.

"Looked like Marathon Owners?"
LOL, do some people just have a "look" that you associate with Marathons?

When you live in a place like El Paso yes they do. LOL. I won't clarify but those who have lived there would know what I mean ;)!

Me too. I was the only way to RF past 12 months and I live in a big city. My friend though has kept her 19 month old RF, partly because of what I told her and partly because he has Downs Syndrome with low muscle tone. But if he didn't have the low muscle tone, I think they would have swapped him FF by now. She seemed very reluctant to keep him RF, it was a "I guess we'll have to keep him RF" kind of thing.

I need to pay more attention, but considering this area is FLOODED with kids, I really haven't been able to see anyone put their kids in car seats. I'm very curious if this area has ERF kids or not. I'd like to think there's a good chance of it, but age/income doesn't seem to matter.

I just found out one of the other mom's at my mommy & me ERF's her almost 2 year old! Whooo-hooo! She was asking one of the parents who's youngest just turned a year if she had him RF still and when that mom said no, that they had flipped him on his birthday, she started talking about the benefits of ERF and how she just got a new MA so her daughter could RF to the limits of the seat. (And her 6 y/o is still harnessed in a GN!)

LOL, it's funny to see the contrast. That's why I really like traveling, you get to see many other perspectives. I can't even remember the last time I saw a 3 year old who WASN'T rear facing. It's very unusual here. My daughter is 2.5, it would be shocking to see a kid that age forward facing here:whistle:
