law says buckle up. For children under 40 lbs the government recommends a car seat. With or without a seat back seat until age 13.
Government recommends booster seats for children over 40 lbs until they are 8 years old or 4 foot 9. Boosters are typically used for children 4 to 8.
It talks more about how boosters work and how buying an expensive one doesn't mean it is the safest.
I was quite impressed with the article and glad that it says kids need to be 4 and over 40 lbs.
