I decided to get the Bumbleride Twin Indie in Koa. Its on sale for 499 with free shipping. Its all terrain-kinda jogger kinda not, my single BR is easy to push, it has great reviews, its soooo cute, reasonable and it seems to fit my needs.
Any experiences positive/negative?

Have you seen the fold of that stroller? It's 34lbs, and doesn't exactly fold flat. I'm thinking that wouldn't fit in a car trunk.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb13DjArxWY At 3:35 they show the horrible fold, and the awkwardness of getting it in and out of a vehicle.

Looks like a cute stroller, but not something I would want to deal with everytime I took my twins out.

What about a Baby Jogger City Series Elite/City/Classic? Extremely well built, been around for years, awesome customer service, kick arse warranty. :)

Ok, I admit the Bumblerides are pretty dang "cuuuute", but seriously cute doesn't cut it when taking out three kids with two of them being infant twins :p

I don't have that model, but I do have the Bumbleride Flyer. It's a single "regular" stroller and while it's cute, it does have a few very annoying "features". It also takes up the entire cargo area of my SUV. I can only image how much room the Twin Indie would take. Yikes!

So you said you have a BR already. Do you have the Flyer or something else?

Jessica, The Baby Jogger Mini Double that MSK posted about doesn't have air tires, but if you must have those (essentially making it an all-terrain) the Mother stroller of the Mini would either be the Classic or the Elite(costs more, more features, etc..) All of those City series strollers (The City, The Elite, and the Mini) have the same quick one step fast fold, and all fold pretty dang flat. To make them even more flatter, the wheels have a quick release feature.

But to be honest, the Mini that MSK posted about has oversized plastic tires. They *can* handle some offroad, and definitely any uneven streets or sidewalks. There is a suspension in the tires as well.

Oh, and yeah it's 10 pounds lighter than the Bumbleride Indie. That's a HUGE difference when it comes to stroller weight.

Hiya Jessica.

Let me start off by saying I'm sorry if I come off as snarky because I likely will.

I remember your post looking for double SBS stroller & you shot down every single one them mentioned. You shot down the BJCMD saying you didn't want a jogger but the BR looks more jogger like then the BJCMD. I dunno what you drive but that BR looks positively atrocious. Plus, who wants to go through that many steps & take that much time to fold the stroller when you've already taken a crapload of time to get 3 kiddos in the car (ok, maybe not a crapload but it does take a little extra time)? How much strength do you have? Do you really want to have to lift 34lbs a minimum of 4 times for a trip (putting in when heading out, taking out when getting there, putting back in when leaving, taking back out when arriving)?

The BJCMD is so easy (remember, I'm truly 1 handed) & I can push it, fold it & get it in my mini van no issues. If you want a pic of it folded I'll get one but I can provide you a pic of the box it came in. Sure, it doesn't fold as flat as it is in the box (well, it actually does, just the wheels stick out a tad) & it doesn't lock when folded, but I  it.

I have the flyer and like it. It folds big but once I clean out my mess of a trunk I can fitb a big stroller. I fit the double snap n go, laundry baskets, bags of crap, books, toys and other stuff. If I completely clkean out my trunk which is disgusting so it gives me a reason, it will fit fine.

I looked at this one and almost decided on it but the front wheeels seem soooo small. I dont like the joggers with the one big wheel is what I meant-the true joggers but the twin indie is just ridiculously cute period. And the front wheels look bigger and it seems a littlke bigger in general. Soem complaints about the one u have is that it was kinda small.
As far as time/size/space. Let me tell you nothing stops me. I carry both carseats(one in ech hand) and a heavy ass diaper bag by myself across the parking lot down the sidewalk and upstairs to my apt. with madisyn weighing 15 lbs and kingston 13 and the carseats like 10 each-thats probably 50 lbs like 4 times a day b/c I am always on the go everyday. I even do it in the morning to get jordyn to school by 8 and I get them all ready alone and carry them alone. I am quick, and I have bases in my car. Im a pretty fast paced person so all that stuff doesnt bother me. But that stroller was my second choice definitely:) Oh and they are SOOOOOOO cute:love:

45lb weight limit (90 capacity) on that BR would hold me back too.

the BJCMD is 100lbs.

Lets see.

BJCMD:

$100 less
More weight limit
better fold
more compact
UBER CUTE

BR:

less weight
more money
not easy fold
UBER CUTE
odd size when folded.

yea, i'd want the BJCMD. hmmm..

If I was gonna get a BJ I would get the BJ city elite swivel which is 450 on AB.
I like the swivel and the bigger wheals as we will be on dirt paths/trails/etc, and I like how its a tad bigger.

I do like the city mini is stone/black. So whats with teh front wheeels? Can I take it on dirt paths/trails...does it swivel when you turn?

And Jordyn was 4.5 at 45lbs and she did not ride in a stoller anymore(and she was 99% tile)-plus you can usually go a little over weight limits anyway. Plus by then Ill just get a new stroller if necessary! Thats a lot of years for one stroller and 2 kids. I had to buy a new stroller with J after a few yrs b/c it looked like crap.

I am still considering it now b/c I like the color and I like the price and you guys seem to LOVE it so much. I hate the way the snap n go turns. Is this stroller easyt o turn b/c I really want the swivel effect. To me thats way more important than how heavy it is.

Like I said, I carry both seats like 4 times a day a long distance and up stairs. So whats 34lbs for like 5 seconds to put it in my trunk? Its just not an issue for me. Thats the only function problem and to me its just not a problem b/c I know what I am capable of. And I really want a cute stroller. I had an ugly stroller with dd and I hate the ugly snap n go. And aside from the ehaviness which again not a factor, the BR seems to be a good stroller.

Yes, the front wheels swivel. The stroller can go over every terrain you can think of. The colors (IMO) are comparable to the BR. The dimensions aren't that different.

BR:
Standing Dimensions: 36L 29.5W 34.5H
Folded Dimensions: 32L 29.5W 15H

BJ:
Dimensions

Width
29"
Ground to Handle
41.25"
Stroller Length
30.25"
Seat Back
19.75"
Hip to Knee
9"
Knee to Foot
9"
Folded Dimensions
29.5 x 29 x 11"

The BJ canopy offers much better sun protection. You get the extra 5lbs per seat. You say J was in 99th percentile, what if Kingston is the same. Growth charts are different for boys so he could be that by 3.5 instead & if you go on a long trip (like to the Zoo for example) your BJ would still be useable.

It's some more food for thought for ya. It really is about what you like & think will work best for you & the kiddos. I don't think the BJCMD is too small. I'm a bit baffled by that because my much larger then ave 3yo fits very well in it w/ room to grow. Aren't ppl always complaining about doubles not fitting in places because they are too big?

the bumbleride is one beautiful stroller... I've seen the single and even the double irl... and they are just gorgeous.

I've never seen anyone regret a bumbleride purchase... they are amazing.

That said, the seats are not big at all... not on the indie or the double indie.

now, it would cost a ton more, but for that weight and all, I'd be thinking ABC twin Everest... of course, I'd score it on swap instead of paying to ship from NZ, and so I'd end up spending as much as you plan to, but that's me.... brand new is not a deal breaker.

With your budget and given that you may hate the bulk (most petite moms end up hating bulk of any kind) of a 30+lb stroller (my petite friend loved the ABC twin for what it could do... hold more than two kids by adding on a seat or two up top, but she hated the size and bulk of it... as opposed to me who probably would have had it as my only double stroller until she no longer needed a double)

If you want something lighter weight and all terrain, I'd say you need to look at the Regular Baby Jogger sbs stroller... but if you don't NEED the air tires, the city mini is a DREAM to push.

I'd also look at the Dreamer Design doubles... they are fantastic and returnsforsale.com has one in closeout condition for under 300

I've never seen anyone regret a bumbleride purchase... they are amazing.

Well, like I said, I do have one and I do kinda regret it. My biggest issues are that it pushes like crap when the handle is in the reversed position, the wheels squeak really loud, and there's this support bar that crosses right over the basket, preventing you from putting in even a moderately sized diaper bag. I can put more stuff in my Volo's basket than I can the Flyer. Not cool! And the whole reason I bought it was for the reversible handle -- I'm barely 5'0 and even I kick the wheels when I walk.

ETA, I thought of another thing that drives me crazy. The wheels are so slick that when I'm using the stroller indoors (on tile) and I'm trying to turn it, the whole stroller slides instead of turning!

I've had the thing for a couple of years and although I think it looks nice, it's poor functionality makes me want to leave it at home. I've used it like twice in the last year, which is unfortunate for such an expensive stroller.

Jessica, as you may know I used to sell strollers. High-end strollers.

Let me just say this..if you were my client that I was working with I wouldn't even mention the Bumblerides to you, or in fact any other brands that I sold. Given your situation and that you need this as an ALL-around stroller, the BJ would be first on my list to mention to you.

FWIW, we never even sold the Bumblerides. The lady that I worked for found their quality to not be up to par in her opinion. Or, she felt you could get more bang for your buck (functionality, warranty, etc..) with another stroller company. I know they have amazing fabrics, but in the function of the stroller this is a minor thing.

You can always make a stroller cuter too. We have a member here that has this website: http://www.nummybaby.com/

We had a BJCSD (not the mini) and I adored it for walks outside and off-roading on trails... turned on a dime.

I didn't like it so much at the mall... while it fit through pretty much every door and still turned on a dime, it was still a SBS and drove me slightly crazy. However, with twins I'd want a SBS, so that's sort of a moot point... they'll all drive you slightly crazy at the mall. :D

I had to get used to the fold... I don't mind a two step/handed fold on other strollers, what I really like is the handle bar to be no where near the wheels because we have snow/mud to deal with here. Unfortunately, this is where the BJCSD loses in my opinion.

The sunshades however on the BJCSD are freakin' amazing and win hands down... that might be more necessary in So. Cal. for you.

I'd much rather have a Valco and keep that handle bar away from the wheels... you may not have that issue as much in So. Cal though. ;) I adore the Valco and if I was having twins, it's the stroller I'd get. :twocents:

Off to look up this BR you're talking about... haven't seen it online or irl... I'll be back to edit if I think it's more amazing than the Valco. :D

ETA: Okay I looked at it (and watched the videos)... the Valco still wins, followed closely by the BJCSD (I'm still not totally a Mini fan, unless you spend a lot of time in smaller stores in the mall). If your outdoors the majority of the time, I'd rather have the Valco or BJCSD.

Hey Jen, Did you ever adjust the handlebar before folding it? I always did, and never had a problem with my handlebar touching my wheels.

With the Mini, of course the handlebar is stationary, but I have never had any issues with snow, or mud getting on the handlebars.

I never really minded shopping with my BJ City Classic, but once I got my Mini it was MUCH MUCH easier. I believe it is shorter from front to back. That was huge for me, because when you need to spin or turn around, it keeps you from hitting racks, and corners in the aisles.

I wanted the valco double ever since i saw it online.

then i went and saw it in person.

uber heavy
they couldn't show me how to fold it
it doesn't go through doorways
very awkward shape

When I started reading around, i have read that valco CS isn't that great (i'm sure lovin has stories)

now. to my BJCMD CS story.

The old skins had an issue with the fraying. Well i called back in july. gave her all the information. She said no problem, i'll send out your new skins.

I got new said skins, and they were the wrong color. No problem. They said i could keep both sets of skins, while they fix the color issues.

I used the old skins, and the new skins.

I just got my replacement skins, and i get to keep all the old skins (sending back the color issue ones) and she sent me a canopy too!

so now i have TWO full sets of skins.

Now that rocks.

Hey Jen, Did you ever adjust the handlebar before folding it?

I adjusted it every time, but it still came a little closer than I was comfortable with... tons of slush here.

I wanted the valco double ever since i saw it online.

uber heavy
they couldn't show me how to fold it

It is heavy... but no heavier than the other two she's looking at or the type of stroller she seems to be after. Heavy never bothered me... I lift it in/out of a trunk, I'm not carrying it around with me. :D

The fold is amazing. The handle folds down and then the stroller folds over on itself... the wheels never leave the ground and it gets nice and flat (same size as the BJCSD). It is a two step fold, but again... never bothered me.

It absolutely goes through doorways... all of them, so I'm not sure where this came from? It can go wherever a wheel chair can go. :)

Not sure what you mean by awkward shape? It's the same shape as the other BR and the BJSCD.

Not trying to pick on you... just clarifying/adding another viewpoint. :)

Valco also has a better/wider/longer foot rest which is important as they get older... so does the BJCSD. The BR seems to be lacking in that area as does the BJ Mini. :o

ETA: I was with MSK when she saw the Valco. We drug our preggo butts & our toddlers out to go look at it. I agree w/ her. It was rather big, couldn't figure out the fold (more a store issue though as the sales person had no clue how to & they had no manual for it) & it didn't fit through their door (seriously).

Don't buy a double without seeing if it will fit in your trunk. I'm here to tell you that the taking the wheels off every freakin' time is so not fun at all. AT ALL. ugh.

I think the Baby Jogger City Elite is a really sharp looking stroller and would go with that over the BR.

Hee hee. Baby jogger (no which of the city series you choose) seems to be the board fave. I think we've all pounded BJ down your throat at this point. When get your stroller let us know what you got & how you like it when it arrives.

the bumbleride is one beautiful stroller...

I'd also look at the Dreamer Design doubles... they are fantastic and returnsforsale.com has one in closeout condition for under 300

http://returnsforsale.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=1222

you can find reviews of it here

I think that Dreamer Design may be the one I returned. This is my post from a different thread:

I ordered a Dreamer Design Ditto Manhattan Deluxe a few weeks ago after searching everywhere for the best deals on doubles and of course not a few days later I saw this deal posted

Well my dreamer design came from joggingstrollers.com and the box it was delivered in looked like Swiss cheese, the frame was tweaked and wouldn't lock open (til my Dh fixed it) and the front was boogered up from where it was poking through the box. The final straw was trying to fold the darn thing (think wrestling a grown cow to the pavement) which took two of us because it kept hanging up and wouldn't collapse until the other day when the fabric ripped all the way down the side (yea, I guess that's where it was hanging up) any way, I sent that thing back and turned around and ordered a BJCD from BU which should be here on Tuesday and I can't wait! I'm glad to hear you love it but I admit I was hoping for some pics LOL

I have had my Baby jogger city double for a few weeks now and I'm in love! I regret not having bought it sooner, the stroller makes me want more kids just so I can get more use out of it LOL:love: I already have 5 and DH says no more so I guess I'll have to enjoy it while I can.

All kidding aside, you can't go wrong with this stroller. If it wasn't already the best stroller I've ever owned in every way I would recommend it just based on the fold alone.

I liked the look of it before I ordered the Dreamer Design but didn't want to spend $600.00 for it. Luckily a deal was posted here for $339.99 and I snatched it up but I can assure you without a doubt it is worth the $600.00 price tag.

The BJ City Double has 12 inch bike tires so it is great for going everywhere. If you're an avid jogger it may not be the stroller for you simply because it doesn't have the 16 inch rear wheels but if you jog occasionally then it will be fine. It turns on a dime and pushes easily with one hand.

I'm really not sure why someone would go with the mini over the city? they are almost identical but you get the all terrain use out of the city because of the tires.

Mine fits in the back of my van better than any other double I've had and for the first time I don't have to leave my stroller at home when I go grocery shopping.

Okay you guys, epecially MSK....you will be happy to know I decided to get the
BJSCC....http://www.albeebaby.com/baby-jogger-swivel-city-classic-double-2008-black.html

Its 399 on sale! I figured for the same price it was a better choice than the mini b/c of the wheels and the fact that we are often out and about and my mom wants to take it on trails and stuff, plus I like the footrest much better and I like the shape and design better.

So anyhoo I will be ordering it hopefully this weekend and will show pics asap!

Thank you guys for your help-I think this is a great choice.

Cyrene, for single, we chose the Mini over the next step up because of 1) price and 2) fitting in the back of the car. There were concerns if the next size up would fit as easy.

The Mini has done fine for everything I have asked of it -- including today's trip across the fields outside two schools to the playground.

See so since its the same price that takes care of that and I am sure it'll fit. Do you guys think it will fit in my altima if its cleaned out?
I am still sad about the BR. Its so damn cute and I couldnt wait to roll around with it.....

City and Mini... are the SAME stroller.

you mean the City Classic?

i'm sure the mini is lighter, since it has less plastic. (the footrests/wheels on the classic make it heavier.) Not sure what the fold looks like on the Classic.

I WILL say, however, Lovinwaves had a classic, and sold it for the City Mini.

you can go to www.babyjogger.com and check things out there!

I have never once taken the wheels off of the stroller, and i did that day. push of 1 button, and they were off.

SEVEN inches. thats it! thats AMAZING.

These are really awesome photos. It makes me want one in a single!!! :D I think I want the orange color though. :p My DD is 3 1/2 yrs though. Do I need one? It'd make a great mall stroller.
