My friend just got this car and she is waiting for her son's Nautilus to arrive.

Does anyone know if she can use the latch until the child stops using the Nautilus?

I know she can use the latch with Nautilus on booster mode but I wonder if the car has a latch limit.

Mitsubishi has a 48-lb limit.

Whether that will take her through the harnessing capacity depends on her kid's size. Many kids will outgrow the seat by height before reaching 48 lbs, others won't. Few will make it to 65 lbs harnessed. Remember that the seat is outgrown when the weight limit is reached, or when the shoulders go over the top harness slot. (Or when the tops of the ears are even with top of the shell, but that won't happen with the Nauti in harnessed mode.)

LATCH isn't safer than a seatbelt. Frankly, with the Nautilus, I find a seatbelt install to be faster and easier than with LATCH anyway. She might want to give it a try.

I know, I just think latch is much easier jaja And yes, I have explained to her when the seat is outgrown. Thanks.

I also think the Nauti installs easier with a seatbelt -- and your friend may too.

I like the seatbelt install ff with my Boulevard but I have tried installing another friend's Nautilus with the seatbelt and it is a pain. Her car's female side of the seatbelt is really long and it does not lock because it is an old car.

If she has latch then her seat belts in some way. I thought locking seats either at the latch plate or when you pull the seat belt all the way out has been required since the late 1990s. I could be wrong and feel free to correct me if I am.

She's referring to a different friend, not the one who has LATCH. Incidentally, the lockability law applies to vehicles manufactured after September 1995.
